So, unless I am very much mistaken, Blood Bowl is based on US football. Also, sending players off is a Soccer based concept, whereas persistent fouling in most US sports involves a cool off period in the "Sin Bin" and gives the team a minor penalty...
So:
A player declares a foul and rolls exactly as under current rules. Injuries, modifiers etc all remain as they are. The only difference is what happens if the ref spots the foul...
If a player is spotted, then he is sent to the "sin bin" - this means he is put in the knocked out box and may only retake the field when he rolls a 4+ just as if he is really knocked out. This represents the fact that some players are sin binned for a few minutes, the rest will miss the rest of the match. Traits like Thick Skull do not affect being sent to the sin bin.
In addition, the coach of the team who suffered the foul may move all of his opponents models 1 square towards their own end zone - either straight back or diagonally (as long as they stay on the pitch) - this is to represent the 10 yard penalty which is usually associated with a foul in US football.
The game then continues as normal...
What I'm trying to do here is make fouling more risky from a team's perspective, but less so from an individual perspective as that player may get the chance to return quickly, though he may not return at all... More importantly, I'm trying to give a real US football feel to rules which somehow feel too soccer like for me..
Any thoughts or ideas?
Be nice please....
