Ok, what about we combine what I suggested and what Zombie suggested, so that if you decide to roll on one of those tables you don't have to take that mutation but can go for a doubles/trait instead?

No, I don't think it makes my suggestion obsolete. The point of my suggestion is that you don't have to take the mutation that your rolled if you don't like it. It combined with the fact that RSC or VLL is not always available should tone down excess mutations a bit.
The problem is that the two teams, skaven and chaos, which can have them, are on the opposite ends of the success curve, so I have mixed feelings whether they should or should not be restricted more than what they are now.

With your suggestion, the mutations that are never taken now will still never be taken. Where's the randomness there?
Getting them on a roll of a 7, and freeing doubles up for dodge, dauntless, etc. more than compensates for the few times you might be disappointed in what you get. If anything, this system works against skaven by making one-turners harder to come by, while helping choas a lot (anything is welcome for them as they are so generic, and they can now gain dodge, pass, frenzy, etc. as well).

give me the mino with stunty and break tackle (back when stunty was just another mutation)...dodge anywhere and hit anyone with st6Zombie wrote:Actually, i'd love to have a minotaur with big hand. Picks up the ball on 2+ always, and who'll stop him from scoring? Two heads would help him out in this department too. And regeneration means that you'll always be able to rely on this player. Though in LRB, regeneration wouldn't be in these tables, because it's a racial caracteristic now.
Besides, if you don't want a scoring minotaur, then why did you roll twice in the scoring table? Why not roll in the hurting table instead if that's what you're looking for?

My point is that the most powerful mutations should not be readily available, but that coached shouldn't be screwed by Thick skull or something else that they definitely do not want if they decide to take a mutation.Zombie wrote:With your suggestion, the mutations that are never taken now will still never be taken.
