Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

Zombie:

As great as it would be to implement a table such as that, your tables are no longer valid as Stunty, Thick Skull, Hypnotic Gaze, and Regeneration are no longer Physical Traits but Racial Characteristics. No player may take those abilities unless they start with them.

Grumble and Cervidal : Yeah, the tables would have to be redone because of that. That's what i said in my first post!

My mistake. Just coming back from vacation, I've had to skim the threads. There is way too much to go through in good detail!

Ok, what about we combine what I suggested and what Zombie suggested, so that if you decide to roll on one of those tables you don't have to take that mutation but can go for a doubles/trait instead?

My suggestion to get them on a 7 instead of a double makes your suggestion obsolete.

The difference is that i'm not pushing for this to become official. House rules can contain as many tables as the league is comfortable with, but the official rules should remain as straight forward and succint as humanly possible.

I feel it's important to make the difference.

House rules -> can be as complex as you want it to be.

Official rules -> should adhere to the KISS principle.

Maybe you should move this to the House Rules page then? :?:

I thought it already was!

You're right, this topic would fit better in the house rules forum.

No, I don't think it makes my suggestion obsolete. The point of my suggestion is that you don't have to take the mutation that your rolled if you don't like it. It combined with the fact that RSC or VLL is not always available should tone down excess mutations a bit.

The problem is that the two teams, skaven and chaos, which can have them, are on the opposite ends of the success curve, so I have mixed feelings whether they should or should not be restricted more than what they are now.

With your suggestion, the mutations that are never taken now will still never be taken. Where's the randomness there?

Getting them on a roll of a 7, and freeing doubles up for dodge, dauntless, etc. more than compensates for the few times you might be disappointed in what you get. If anything, this system works against skaven by making one-turners harder to come by, while helping choas a lot (anything is welcome for them as they are so generic, and they can now gain dodge, pass, frenzy, etc. as well).

And regeneration means that you'll always be able to rely on this player. Though in LRB, regeneration wouldn't be in these tables, because it's a racial caracteristic now.

Besides, if you don't want a scoring minotaur, then why did you roll twice in the scoring table? Why not roll in the hurting table instead if that's what you're looking for?
give me the mino with stunty and break tackle (back when stunty was just another mutation)...dodge anywhere and hit anyone with st6 :)

My point is that the most powerful mutations should not be readily available, but that coached shouldn't be screwed by Thick skull or something else that they definitely do not want if they decide to take a mutation.
