*ponders*... I like the options with the skill set. I like them very much.
I will propably know somewhere around Christmas whether I can make it, but I'm looking forward to make an appearance.

PREVIEW - SLANN
PREVIEW: SLANN
What better way to start the previews than with the team I plan on playing myself?
12 players + apothecary + 3RR
I normally play three Catchers, but with this skill set a fourth Catcher becomes mandatory. This will make the team even more squishy (which I have covered with 12 players + apo), but also more reliable when receiving.
Kroxigor - Leader & Pro
Catcher - Dodge
Catcher - Sure Hands
Catcher - Guard
Catcher - Sidestep
Linefrog - Block
Linefrog - Wrestle
Linefrog - Strip Ball
Linefrog - Kick
Linefrog - Fend
Linefrog - Frenzy
Linefrog
Golden skill: Dodge
Skills I would hate to lose early in the tournament: not a single skill loss would be dramatic. But I'd like to keep Leader, Sure Hands, Block, Wrestle & Strip Ball around as long as possible.
Not sure about: Fend & Frenzy. Tackle is still an option.
I first had Block on the Kroxigor, but this left me with too many sub-par skills on the Linefrogs. Giving the big guy Pro solved that problem. You'll notice most of the big guys in my preview will get Pro
Sooo, what team do you want previewed? Feel free to drop a reaction. Only six weeks untill the tournament!

Undead?
12sklills please, just to check... (Last tournament I did no go your way MC and.. I won, so
)
Have my line-up written down already (very much looking forward to the 24h), so it's really a matter of checking I did not forget about something obvious.

Like the skill rules as well.
How about Goblins:
15 Players, 3 RR, 1AC, 1 CL, 2 Bribes, who needs an apo
Player - 12 Skill option - 10 Skill option (Dobles underlined)
Troll - Block - Block
Troll - Wrestle - Block
Looney - Dodge - Dodge
Pogoer - side step - n/a
Fanatic - Mighty Blow - Mighty Blow
Bomber - HMP - HMP
Gobbo - DP + sneaky Git - DP
Gobbo - catch - side step
Gobbo - Jump up - side step
Gobbo - Sprint - side step
Gobbo - DT - side step
4 Gobbos with nothing
Golden Skill: HMP
Skillls I would hate to loose: Block on the Troll(s), Dodge and DP but nothing could wreck the game more than the team being Gobbos in the first place.

I probably have to go to Belgium business wise and will try to schedule it so that I can attend the tourney.
As it is playing the whole night you don´t even need a hotel.
I´ll tell you as soon as I know.

WHY?
No disrespect meant, as I see an awful lot of Goblin coaches choosing Hail Mary Pass when being allowed to take a 'doubles' skill roll, but actually selecting it as the skill you'd want to keep throughout the tournament is something you need to explain to me.
I, personally, would (and propably am) go(ing) for the following set-up:
2x Troll w. Block
Pogoer w. Sure Feet
Fanatic w. Block (golden skill) + Mighty Blow
Looney w. Dodge
Bombardier w. Pass
3x Goblin w. Side Step
5x Goblin w/o skill
3x Re-Roll
3x Bribe
1x either Fan Factor, Assistant Coach, or Cheerleader
I will admit that it acts as a glass cannon at times and aren't a fool-proof way to win games, but when receiving at turn 1 (assuming you don't roll too poorly), this team can punch through high-armoured opponents like there's no tomorrow... and go om-nom-nom on AV7 teams.

If you give three times Block & three times Sidestep, you can give only 10 skills in total.Vinz D. wrote:I, personally, would (and propably am) go(ing) for the following set-up:

Preview - Chaos Pact
PREVIEW - CHAOS PACT
When the rules for this 24hrs tournament were first posted, a lot of players were looking towards Chaos Pact. Most of these players have moved on since, opting to play another team. Strange, since Chaos Pact is a really strong choice for the 24hrs Midwinter Madness.
13 players + apothecary + 2RR's
Minotaur - Claw & Piling On
Ogre - Pro
Troll - Tentacles
Dark Elf - Dodge
Skaven - Wrestle
Goblin - Two Heads
Marauder - Block
Marauder - Guard
Marauder - Leader
Marauder - Dirty Player
Marauder - Tackle / Pro / Horns / Stand Firm / Sure Hands / Fend / Dauntless / Mighty Blow / Frenzy (whatever skill suits your playing style)
Marauder
Marauder
Golden skill: Dodge
Skills I would hate to lose early in the tournament: Block, Guard, Leader, Tentacles.
With 11 obvious skill picks, I believe Chaos Pact is a very strong team to bring to the tournament. You should know though that your Big Guys will be as unreliable as ever, losing you a couple of games in the process.
A lot of people have told me they will be attending the tournament, so we're looking at what will probably be the biggest 24hrs Midwinter Madness yet. You don't want to miss out on this one!
Ho ho merry Christmas!

Re: 24 HRS MIDWINTER MADNESS – 26/27 JANUARY 2013 (BELGIUM)
The reasoning behind HMP as golden skill is that with HMP you can throw the bomb from anywhere on the field to anywhere on the field on a 2+. The bomb may be inaccurate but who cares, most bombing passes are anyway, and the bomb cannot be intercepted and is more difficult to catch.Vinz D. wrote:Willi wrote:Golden Skill: HMP![]()
WHY?
That threat and the fun of throwing bombs everywhere is the reasoning.
Fair enough?
Hopefully I can make the tournament and we have a match against each other. Would be great fun.

Re: 24 HRS MIDWINTER MADNESS – 26/27 JANUARY 2013 (BELGIUM)
PREVIEW - KHEMRI
Eight positionals take nine unique skills. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to fit in twelve? Right?
13 players + 2 Re-rolls*
Tomb Guardian - Block
Tomb Guardian - Mighty Blow (& Piling On)**
Tomb Guardian - Break Tackle
Tomb Guardian - Guard
Blitz-Ra - Frenzy (& Stand Firm)**
Blitz-Ra - Tackle
Thro-Ra - Dodge (& Kick-off Return)**
Thro-Ra - Leader
Skeleton - Wrestle
Skeleton - Dirty Player
Skeleton - Sidestep
Skeleton
Skeleton
2x Re-roll
50K left to win as many re-rolls as possible
1/3 fans
1/2 Cheerleader
1/2 Assistant coach
Golden skill: Block or Leader
Skills I would hate to lose early in the tournament: Block or Leader, Dodge
* You can take a third Re-roll instead of the 13th player and some of the coaching staff. If you do so, Dirty Player loses a lot of it's value, Fend or Pro probably becomes a better choice. And Leader obviously shouldn't be your golden skill.
** Three options to stack a skill, all of them could add some value to the way the team performs. I'd probably go with Kick-off Return on the Thro-Ra, but both other choices would be defendable.
Confirmations and payments are coming in very quick now. Thank you all for joining this great tournament! Only five days left to enjoy the discount!!
