When I got home I tried something different.
I inverted the colors I used on my previous test.
Here´s the (still wet) result
This looks pretty much what I was aiming for in the first place.
The walls will receive some added coats of wood enamel to make them a few shades darker then this, but for a test I think this is where I want my project to go to.
The floors will also become somewhat darker, but I first need to pick up a different shade of enamel to darken the grey paint properly. Add lichen, moss, toadstools and some debris and the dungeon feel starts coming along nicely. (I think)
With materials testing out of the way and a clear(er) plan in mind I can now start beefing up the dungeon tiles. They will all be weighed with a 5mm thick layer of wood glued underneath. The wood enamel can be used there as well.
Oh, and before I forget, I still need to carve out brick walls for 7 of the 8 dungeon tiles. I know what will keep me busy this weekend
I also ordered pillars and chests.
I ended up ordering these:

The guy also has doors. I might end up ordering one to see how they fit. Still need doors for my dungeon as well.
