I snipped a bit from the middle but wanted to say thanks for that. You are spot on, they are not professional in any sense - just the Apes the way that Xtreme and I want them.

Glad to see the project urging such...passionate...posts. :) Thanks to everyone who has taken a look at the Apes of Wrath, whether you pledged or not, and a quick announcement - we are ALMOST HALFWAY HOME! Woo hoo!

@ Blamahhan: tsk, tsk!
Penalty for unsportsman like action (personal attack).

@ Chase: I am still on the sidelines/fence, but will likely end up contributing. Make sure to send out a reminder or something, to make sure the holidays don't swipe me away.

So you don't like my idea cool. Start making suggestions that will.
Happy to! I will say that I hope this is successful and as of this writing, with 22 days to go, there is $2110.00 pledges so it looks to me like your in pretty good shape to get started!

1)A bit of a tough go this time of year, if it doesn't get all the pledges it needs to go I'd suggest to try again, maybe in the summer, further away from the holidays that soak up a lot of disposable income for many folks. Just because it doesn't go doesn't mean it won't.

2)When this does get off the ground, HIRE, for money, a professional artist that will make professional quality drawings with strong silhouettes, dynamic poses using structure based on your original concepts. When you pay you will get what you want way more often than if you don't. By saying you will give credit for the drawings instead of paying money implies that you weren't planning on giving credit to a paid professional, either way it's slimy, and you will be scraping the bottom of the barrel for art. When an artist draws with structure it really really helps the sculptor because the drawings will work in every angle, even though those angles aren't necessarily there. Without structure a drawing may look good in one angle but ONLY that one angle.

3)Choose your sculptor carefully, make sure he is familiar with the subject matter and has a track record of success with these sort of animals and can render the fur the way you want it. Suppling him/her with strong clear examples of what you want will only make the end product closer to what you want.

4)Scale!!! Super important here. Pick out existing figs that have the exact size you want ie, gorilla the size of Ripper, or what ever. Sometime just the mm to eyes can be very ambiguous in regards to girth and bulk of the fig.

Thats what I have found making a few figs and designs for figs, good luck, and please please please, PAY a professional to do the production designs rather than ripping off a young artist for "credit", they are what your figs are based on. When you build a house, it never pays to go cheap on the foundation.S.

Can we keep this discussion civil and on topic please? With most of the mods at the NAF WC and Galak an interested party I guess the moderation is down to me. I can't and won't lock this for obvious reasons, but I will just simply delete any further degenerations or attacks.
Play nice.

Aww, and I was just about to make a personal (is a company really a person?) attack.

Edited: Did I say personal? Borderline call but certainly not on topic. -Deathwing.

I really want to back this but it's not a good time with the new kid and school. I hope this works and there is an expansion with more apes and some real monkeys that is workable as I a team I don't own. (Monkey wood elfs)

I'm still trying to decide what team & build I'd want to use them as before I decide on a reward package, but in the meantime...

this says it's protesting teak wood furniture, but I wonder if they aren't actually protesting against violence done against Apes on the pitch...

I have to say that while the style of the Sketches differ between the more serious Gorillas and more comic Thrower and Chimp i think they're all pretty cool. I think the smaller apes, particularly the chimp show definite character and a unique style. I am likely to donate for the Thrower and then buy the chimp later once they are available.

The art dispute is something that creates very strong feelings in the Deviantart community. Sure, if you're doing a fan project folks will help and there's a lot of resources available for non commercial ventures but asking for charity or exploiting young artists isn't cool. You wouldn't expect the sculptor to be cheap or free so never expect other art chimps to work for peanuts. :)

Corvidius! Thanks for your words and support!

I am the artist and I HOPE to be exploited here! Pay me nothing, just get enough support behind these that they literally BECOME REALITY!
