So you don't like my idea cool. Start making suggestions that will.
Happy to! I will say that I hope this is successful and as of this writing, with 22 days to go, there is $2110.00 pledges so it looks to me like your in pretty good shape to get started!
1)A bit of a tough go this time of year, if it doesn't get all the pledges it needs to go I'd suggest to try again, maybe in the summer, further away from the holidays that soak up a lot of disposable income for many folks. Just because it doesn't go doesn't mean it won't.
2)When this does get off the ground,
HIRE, for money, a professional artist that will make professional quality drawings with strong silhouettes, dynamic poses using structure based on your original concepts. When you pay you will get what you want way more often than if you don't. By saying you will give credit for the drawings instead of paying money implies that you weren't planning on giving credit to a paid professional, either way it's slimy, and you will be scraping the bottom of the barrel for art. When an artist draws with structure it really really helps the sculptor because the drawings will work in every angle, even though those angles aren't necessarily there. Without structure a drawing may look good in one angle but ONLY that one angle.
3)Choose your sculptor carefully, make sure he is familiar with the subject matter and has a track record of success with these sort of animals and can render the fur the way you want it. Suppling him/her with strong clear examples of what you want will only make the end product closer to what you want.
4)Scale!!! Super important here. Pick out existing figs that have the exact size you want ie, gorilla the size of Ripper, or what ever. Sometime just the mm to eyes can be very ambiguous in regards to girth and bulk of the fig.
Thats what I have found making a few figs and designs for figs, good luck, and please please please,
PAY a professional to do the production designs rather than ripping off a young artist for "credit", they are what your figs are based on. When you build a house, it never pays to go cheap on the foundation.S.
Outstanding painting. Spike 2009!
