No, not when Joemanji posted (in the same post!):

It wasn't the 80k bit I was referring to, but the fact that after stating he didn't want humans to lose 0-4 blitzers his proposed team had them as 0-2.

As to what changes Human teams should have:

Give Catchers St3 but give them a Niggle(create Niggle as a trait) to reflect their greater vulnerability to injury; the role of the player and the team flavour is preserved. Any other changes are optional.

that is interesting.

So they end up like stunty players with no dodgy help or passing restriction.

I can't say I hate the idea in theory. But something I can't put my finger on feels wrong about having "damaged goods" for starting players...

Frankly I think 7 2 3 7 catch dodge sprint (or sure feet) would be more "human" in the spirit about them being mediocre and relying on skills to specialize.

I wouldn't use thick skull or niggle. I think the human team should keep straightforward skills and statlines. Personally i would keep the team as is. It's balanced, able to play most styles and good to teach newbies with.

If a change had to be made how would it affect the way the team plays. Loss of the catcher would make the team less of a jck of all trades as the 2 turn TD and passing game would take a big hit. a 7337 catcher would do this. In addition an ST3 catcher with AG access would develop differently to current catchers, likely as a different style blitzer, and so change the team's development quite dramatically long term.

The Human team is pretty good as is. As I said before, 80K Blitzers would bring them back in line.

Hi in there, I just register 2 days ago and found out this thread, based on the same debate I had with a friend 3 months ago.
There is our results :

My alternate human roster
0-16 Linemen 6 3 3 8 (50k) G/ASP
0-2 Catchers 8 2 3 7 Catch, Dodge (70k) GA/SP
0-2 Runners 7 3 3 7 Dodge, Fend (90k) GA/SP
0-2 Blitzers 7 3 3 8 Block (90k) GS/AP
0-2 Blockers 5 3 2 8 Wrestle, Tackle (70k) GS/AP
0-2 Throwers 6 3 3 8 Sure Hands, Pass (70k) GP/AS
0-1 Ogre (140k)

My friend's one
0-16 Linemen 6 3 3 8 (50k) G/ASP
0-2 Catchers 8 2 3 7 Catch, Dodge (70k) GA/SP
0-2 Runners 7 3 3 7 Dodge (80k) GA/SP
0-2 Blitzers 7 3 3 8 Block (90k) GS/AP
0-2 Blockers 5 3 2 9 Wrestle, Tackle (80k) GS/AP
0-2 Throwers 6 3 3 8 Sure Hands, Pass (70k) GP/AS
0-1 Ogre (140k)

If there still someone who watch this post, we'd be glad to hear your feedbacks (Sorry, I' not a English born speaker, so I may be difficult to understand)

I like this one better, though the Runners should be 80K and the Blockers 60K IMO.

I would go one further and knock human linemen down to Ag2 with a 10k decrease in price.

Human blocker at AV9 would also be good for a 10k upgrade.

then I like it
0-16 Linemen 6 3 2 8 (40k) G/ASP
0-2 Catchers 8 2 3 7 Catch, Dodge (70k) GA/SP
0-2 Runners 7 3 3 7 Dodge, Fend (90k) GA/SP
0-2 Blitzers 7 3 3 8 Block (90k) GS/AP
0-2 Blockers 5 3 2 9 Wrestle, Tackle (80k) GS/AP
0-2 Throwers 6 3 3 8 Sure Hands, Pass (70k) GP/AS
0-1 Ogre (140k)

Post based on Voyagers post above.

Humans are all about skills. Keep the statlines as fixed as possible.

Wrestle and Tackle is a very powerful combo. The blockers are supposed to protect the ballcarrier from blitzers, not blitz themselves. So I think that Wrestle, Jump Up would be a better combo..? Having them at M5 I think that it would make an interesting defensive positional.

The Runner is an offensive player and should not have a defensive skill like Fend. Why not make him a dedicated sprinter?

The 6338 statline is the standard and therefore I think that humans should follow it being the average Joes of BB.

I like the many positionals that many of you propose.

0-16 Linemen 6 3 3 8 (50k) G/ASP
0-2 Catchers 7 2 3 7 Catch, Dodge, Nerves of Steel (80k) GA/SP
0-2 Runners 6 3 3 7 Leap, Sure Feet, Sprint (80k) GA/SP
0-2 Blitzers 7 3 3 8 Block (90k) GS/AP
0-2 Blockers 5 3 2 9 Wrestle, Jump Up (80k) GS/AP
0-2 Throwers 6 3 3 8 Sure Hands, Pass (70k) GP/AS
0-1 Ogre (140k)

I would say that instead of the "Standard" 6 3 3 8 is the BASE and all races descend /ascend from that, this kind of arguement was what was heard by the Dwarf Coaches when their rerolls were threatened....

My feeling is that "it has always been that way " is not a good arguement anymore. We are looking at this afresh. tbh the lineman stat change was to spur conversation and have people look as with the 11 positionals linemen will be used on defense only in established sides so why not penalise them.

I think Fend on a runner is an offensive skill as it is all about keeping space and running lanes open.

Jump Up on a Blocker is a step too far for me though, as they are the less mobile players and it would eliminate the negative of being only MA5 with wrestle.

I love the human team the way it is. Just my 2 cents.

If everybody is so hot for a human team with blockers, then lets do one of those. I've got a kislev variant which fits the bill, but there are tons of options available.

Coincidentally - shouldn't a blocker be better at blocking than a blitzer is?
Block + pro is kind of cool (for me at least).
On an AG2 piece, the pro is unlikely to be used for much else than the actual blocking.

At least it would be new (unlike block + jump up or block + dauntless)
Cheers

You are correct of course. But isn't that "error" prevalent in other teams too? Orc blitzers vs. BOB's for example.

Brings the Humans in line with the Orcs.

I like the 5329 wrestle blockers. If 2 blitzers had to be lost i'd be okay with that because you could always build one of your new ST3 catchers into a blitzer. I wouldn't mind seeing the catchers bumped down to MV7 either.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this thread before as humans are my go-to team.

I like this list and I would only make 2 changes to it.

0-2 Runners 7 3 3 7 Dodge, Sure Hands (90k) GA/SP

I think Sure Hands on the Runners means that you don't have to field throwers to pick up the ball reliably and they can protect against Strip Ball, which goes along with the theme of a Runner.

0-2 Blockers 5 3 2 9 Wrestle, Stand Firm (80k) GS/AP

I agree with Ikterus that Tackle does not fit them as a starting skill, but I think that Jump Up is the wrong way to go too. I would suggest with AG of 2 and an AV of 9, Stand Firm would be a good choice. This means that they will hold the line or the front of the cage more reliably, again which goes along with the theme of a Blocker
