I agree that I'd like to see some sort of selection process for the World Cup, as this is a special "every 4 year" tournament, but for the Eurobowl, I think the current system we have for Team England is fine, and shouldn't be changed (and I'm not saying that as a TE player, as using the current system I automatically DQ myself). Maybe it is "cliquey", but these were and are the guys that are willing to put their hands in their pockets and travel across Europe to play BB, so should have first dibs.GalakStarscraper wrote:I realize that Joemanji can come off as a bit abrasive to some.
However ... I would like to agree that I'd really like to see some system where anyone who can make it can make it and based on where they are from they get allocated to that larger group and then somehow having the individual play count towards creating the team.
28 for France but during 2 years, we had 2 teams, better to have more players...Hangus wrote: 11 players in 3 years means to me it is changing (if a little slowly), it would be interesting if i had time to do a bit of research to see who many players have played foreach country.
I agree fully with this as well. Just don't believe the World Cup should use this same system. It works great for what the Eurobowl is ... I don't think it works great for the concept of the World Cup ... especially if they are running ads in White Dwarf. You will have folks signing up that have no clue about ANY of this discussion and they should be able to play.Darkson wrote:but for the Eurobowl, I think the current system we have for Team England is fine, and shouldn't be changed (and I'm not saying that as a TE player, as using the current system I automatically DQ myself). Agree with you but i don't feel the england team is cliquey as if going by the self inflicted rules which states that you must have travelled to a foreign tourny to qualify, that cuts the field down to about 20 coaches and if you are doing a lot of tournies you will know alot of the regulars. I am good mates with most of the england team but it does not mean i will be playing for my country as i am crap.Darkson wrote:I agree that I'd like to see some sort of selection process for the World Cup, as this is a special "every 4 year" tournament, but for the Eurobowl, I think the current system we have for Team England is fine, and shouldn't be changed (and I'm not saying that as a TE player, as using the current system I automatically DQ myself). Is that a GW rule for their tournaments, or just a rule that GW has for Warhammer World?Lycos wrote:Hmmm, thats a very good point mate. I hadn't thought of that....Valen wrote:I like to but at GW Nottingham its impossiblePanico wrote:Why? Don't you usually drink even during matches ?
That depends very much on how good they are. 6 very good coaches will most likely average out better than 12 very good coaches and 38 p*ss poor ones. Isn't that the argument for why Orcs have such a poor overall race ranking (that they're being dragged down by the weight of newbs)?Hangus wrote:Would having 50 coaches representing one country but only 6 representing the other and creating an average be slightly in favour of the 50?
That is precisely a very usefull qualification point as it is a complete different thing to play against someone who isn't from your cultural surrounding. But ok, as a qualifier it is to narrow, but I think that most of a team should consist of travel willing people. Even if the tourney is in your own Country.Hangus wrote:Darkson wrote: .... that you must have travelled to a foreign tourny to qualify, that cuts the field down to about 20 coaches and if you are doing a lot of tournies you will know alot of the regulars.
Let's get a few things cleared up:GalakStarscraper wrote: I don't think it works great for the concept of the World Cup ... especially if they are running ads in White Dwarf. You will have folks signing up that have no clue about ANY of this discussion and they should be able to play.
One thing I would support though is 100% NAF membership at the event ... I don't mind if the NAF is running the World Cup if they only let in the folks that are active members. Don't know if this is a doable thing ... but it would make sense.

very bad one .. a country with more players will have more chances to have more players in the high rankings .. thus england will win no matter what.Mordredd wrote:But IMO there is a better way than a system involving averages. Basically hold an open individual event. Award points for each person's overall rank (1st place gets the most points, last place the fewest) and obtain a country's score by totalling the points for the highest ranked 6 or 8 (or however many) coaches from that country. Ties are broken by whichever country has the highest ranked individual coach.
