When rolling 2 dice the number most likely to come up is 7. (That's why the weather table doesn't work) you would end up with alot of players with traits, maybe even more than players with skills.

 (emphasis mine).

Yes, seven is the most probable number as you have heard. In fact, it comes up approximately 1/6th of the time, which, as most of you know and realise, hardly can cause the situation quoted above and emphasised..

Statistically we have now:
26/36 skill
4/36 pure double
2/36 double or MA/ST
2/36 MA
2/36 AG

And considering the popularity of ST and MA increases, and for the purposes of this demonstration, we assume that MA/ST is preferred over doubles.
Now we have only 4/36 or one roll out of nine (1/9) star player rolls giving a trait or a skill from non-allowed categories.

Now: by adding the '7'-rule, we remove 6/36 from the normal skill probability to a new "skill or trait"-group, changing approximately every fifth (1/5) normal skill into a trait, assuming that a trait is always preferred over a normal skill, which might not always be the case. Even with these odds, I can't see how people could take more traits than normal skills. It only promotes more varying set of players, as coaches have more often the possibility of choosing a trait.

PS. Weather table works exactly in the way it should - weather is usually nice. Still... in my last game we started out with a blizzard... the weather changed in the middle of the game... to blizzard :)

More BBRC History

Post by Milo »

I know I'm a little late for this, but... I'll point out, in the interest of distinguishing BBRC and the NAF, that I am a member of the BBRC but am only peripherally involved in the NAF. (I read the mails and made one suggestion that I think will be implemented, but that's about it.)

As for the history of the BBRC, Jervis originally approached John (who was functioning as Jervis' mouthpiece to the list at the time) and I about joining the list. Andy was his inclusion, and John and I recommended most of the other members (all of whom were universally agreed upon.)

Ok, Teemu. I see it now. A roll of 7 gives you a trait or a normal skill, rather than a trait or any skill. Yeah, I could see this increasing the number of traits in the game. It might be worth the added mention. The only possible gonzo is the number of physical abilities that would crop up.

Oh - as for how I got on the BBRC, think of Jervis as Melkor, Andy as Sauron, and John as Wormtongue. Me? I'm Gothmog

Maybe I should point out that Gothmog happens to be the name of my Bloodthirster in the MBBL2. So please don't get knocked over again on any more 3D blocks.
