Retire? Or not too retire? That is the question!

Post by Valen »

In a recent game one of my HE linemen was SI, and got a -1 ST.

I have 1 PW, 3LW, and 8 Linemen (Inluding him).

The question is shall I retire him now as I still would have 11 players, or shall I retain him until I have a few more players as even with a ST2 he is still a decent reerve with average MA & AV and AG4?

Well, if he has no other abilities, he can play the helping game, and assist your blocks here and there for a while, then, yes, fire him goodbye!

He would not be usefull in the line of screemage, but he still has tackle zone, and assist capabilities .. play with that.

I could also use him for fouling I suppose, it won't matter if he gets a red card.

I'd keep him for now. You have only 12, you need him. Keep him until you get couple players more. Use him as an assistant and fouler - (maybe even as a catcher?) :D

Yes, keep him. Most probably he will get the next two MVPs and roll a double. Then you'll have a player "with character". Then he will get another skill, roll another double, age and get ST or AG -1 and conclude his hilarious carreer as an assistant coach. :smoking:

Seriously, keep him until you have 14+ players.

I'd drop him, but then I drop most players who get a lasting injury! Seriously, the issue would be if he was on the pitch he'd be easy to take out, and he's not help at all if he winds up an easy KO and you have 10 players on the pitch because you were giving your opponent an extra block die. Reserves are only useful to a certain degree. Of course you don't have to set him up where he'll get hit, but if no players but the ones you wanted to got hit it wouldn't be bloodbowl.

Keep him until you can replace him. Just leave him on the bench for the most part. You'll be glad you have him if/when you need him because he's better than nothing.

Drop him now. By himself he's almost a handicap card and costing you money...

Nice idea Ian, but I am not sure if the FUMBBL uses the handicap table, does anybody outthere know for sure, if they do use it, hes gone.

IIRC FUMBBL doesn't, so I'd keep him until you need to lose TR.

No handicap table. SkiJunkie could probably spend all his free time getting it working, but there's likely a revision in the works and it seems a little superfluous for now.

Matches are generally arranged by team strength, however, which is based upon JJ's rules for creating new players and teams. Only players available for the next match, RRs, and coaching staff count though (MNGs and cash don't). This means that dumping him would mean you'd be most likely to play against a weaker team if you dumped him.

I personally would keep him. A STR 2 player with no skills won't add much to your TS, but will certainly be useful for everything except blocking (ie: hand-off man, fouls, assists, line meat, etc...). Well worth it, IMHO.

Of course, he is destined to get your next 2 MVPs and a double...

I've had a ST2 Block line elf for a long while on my MBBL team. He tends to play when I've got a couple of MNG or comes on when necessary to make up the 11. He's still pretty useful...tackle zones are tackle zones and sod the handicap if you're down to 10 or less...

Most top rated fumbbl teams fire each and every niggler on the spot to keep their STR/TR low. On fumbbl you would be much better off if you fired him immediately unless this is a league team.

Check out the rosters of the top 30 teams, and check out when players have been retired.

Mirascael's advice there, is pretty true with the exception of Evo's absurd teams. If you ignore anything with "Anarchist" in it, then Mirascael hit the nail on the head.

keep him. It is good to have expendable players on your team! Toss him in to give assist and tacklezones.
