Maybe I should pimp it here... :P

My Java BB installer. Did this one up for all the guys in FUMBBL asking for the special weather-pitches, icons, and portraits...it's all that in the one installer.

Dragoonkin: I do plan to put up a link to your Installer on the website(s) next time I do an update and have the time. Just didn't have time this time around.

Seriously? Cool. Thanks. :D Only ever really did it for all the people in #FUMBBL complaining they can't find the weather pitches or the extra icons won't install or whatever else. :P

I made a quickie (sort of) web-based installer for JavaBB...I'm looking for any comments and suggestions anyone can come up with. Try it, use up my bandwidth, go to town! (Moderation, please. :P)

There is a new 5.9 patch on the same download page as the original game download.

Main:
http://www.geocities.com/javabbowl/
Mirrors:
http://javabbowl.no-ip.org/
http://home.austin.rr.com/javabbowl/

The 5.9 patch adds a new small field option. Also has some bug fixes.

Download the "patch5_9.zip". Unzip the contents to the original install directory. It will overwrite the "bbowl.jar", "readme.txt" files.

And uh...the internet installer auto-updates itself as soon as I put the patch in the JBBInstall folder. :P Which I did.

I'll have to do the manual installer tomorrow I suppose. Maybe I shouldn't bother. :D

Well...the web installer just downloads the files you specify (in this case, the patch) and installs them itself. So all I do is replace the patch file on my server, you run the installer (same version as before...nothing's changed), tell it to download the newest patch and it does so. :D

All it hinges on is me having got it already.

[edit] Hmm I just noticed it makes the silly Java Blood Bowl folder shortcut on your desktop irregardless of if you want it to or not... Maybe I should take that "feature" out. [/edit]

can't you get ski to upload the new patch when he releases them, then you won't need to worry

I was actually thinking about rigging it up to detect what version you have and what version is the current one, and update you automatically if you need it...and tell you an upgrade isn't needed if you're all up-to-date.

As well as adding automatic-update capabilities to the installer itself...but that's all up to me having time this weekend.

There is a new 6.0 download on the same download page as the original game download.

Main:
http://www.geocities.com/javabbowl/
Mirrors:
http://javabbowl.no-ip.org/
http://home.austin.rr.com/javabbowl/

The 6.0 download is not a patch. It is a full install of the game. Too many files changed to make a 5.x -> 6.0 patch worth the time.
Lots of things changed so READ the website change list and the readme.txt file.
