Another question:
I have a blitzer i want to build to get into cages.
The first skill i gave him was leap, but what to give him for his second skill?
Dodge would be ok, makes him generally better...
but skills like stripball, tackle or pro will make him better in his cage-breaking...
what do you think?

sounds reasonable. That would be the really specialized way...
the reason why i thought of pro was that i can use him as a very reliable catcher/pickuper as well (apart from the reroll on the leap or the 1block in the cage)
Do you allways choose for "very specialized" or do you go for "everyone is allround"
(obviously i have troubles playing DE, 3 games, 1-3, 1-1, 1-1)

Well pro is usefull for sure, but he there's a 50 % chance your gona fail and you may not reroll (unless you use a TRR but then you can better use a TRR right away). I see pro more as a handy skill (always usefull to have), but I wouldn't rely on it to much. And if you want to have a good ball retriever tackle or strip will come in handy. I prefer tackle because it's alos defensive very usefull against dodge teams, makes them use rerolls or cause turnovers. I always develop specialists, because it's more fun to create a "one of a kind" player instead of mass production!!!!

From my personal Experience with the skill Pro, and it is one of my favorite skills, It is a second chance versatile skill. You have allready burned that Re-Roll for the team now you need to make another roll, you use Pro. I would say that it is primarily for Strength team would dont get access to the Agility ball handleing skills like Dodge, Sure Feet, ect, ect.
So if you have something in specific in mind for that players role, upick that skill instead. If he will be more defensive or general in nature, then Pro is for you. Not to mention that Pro is the only skill that you can use to Player Re-Roll a failed Block result!

DwarfFanatic: I usually start my teams with at least 3 rerolls, and 4 if I can possibly get them. As a result, Pro is one of the least useful skills for my players, as I generally have a team reroll open to me, and I can use it to reroll the failed action with a higher success rate than Pro would give me. In addition, the skill I have gained instead of pro makes my player a specialist at doing his job well.
Tackle, guard, dirty player, and kick are all essential skills for a good team. A well coached team with specialists can do better than a team full of pro, becasue a good coach will work to put the players he needs in the right position.

Horkon or wizard?
The last few weeks had seen so many DE threads so I thought I'd post in this one rather than create yet another.
In about 24 hours, I'm about to play our local Dungeonbowl final against my arch-rival and his wood elves. Our teams are at equal terms around 200 TR, skills well-dispersed. We both have 60k gcs and I'm very likely to face a wizard. But I can't decide whether to hire one for myself also, or to freeboot that bloody useless assassin. It's just a feeling I have that he will make himself useful for just this one instance (plus my opponent has a AV 6 WD with it's name written across his dagger).
What to do, what to do...

I would take Dodge and Kick for the linemen, dodge provides you more versatility and kick is really usefull against slow teams.
Concerning to the money, I agree with Asperon, I'd take the witch the sooner the better. Play her in attack and make her your scorer/receiver, M 7 AG 4 dodge is still good, so that she gets the so needed block.

Sorry, I don't have a lot of experience with either wizards, star Players, or Dungeon Bowl. I would probably take the Assassin, just because he will be there the whole time. That Blade is going to be good, on All that AV7, even if you can't get to the Wardancer.

Just in case you wondered:
I just had the most exciting and challenging game I ever played, but sadly I lost 1-2 (much owing to a failed GFI, but then again, it's always because of a failed GFI isn't it?).
We (me and the woodie coach) have been playing each other since 2nd ed. so our games are more like games of chess than blood bowl, one often knowing the other's moves way ahead. However, this time he put me off guard by freebooting a treeman, probably another reason to my defeat.
And to conclude, the assassin was a good one. He put both wardancers out of action for the rest of the game before he was sent off by the referee. He has really redeemed himself in my eyes and is a safe investment in future play-offs against my bitter enemy! Go Horkon!

Well I am glad to hear that Mr. Heartripper, did his job well. I have never really had a very high esteem of him either, but he looks like he would be better than nothing, and definately serves a purpose.
