Leader re-roll after 8 team re-rolls: possible?

Post by SBG »

Hi guys!

Can you benefit from a leader or tourney re-roll if you already have 8 re-rolls? My team now has 7 re-rolls and I wonder if I have to keep a place for leader or will I be able to add it if I buy an eighth one ?

Yes, you can. You can use more than 8 rerolls if you get a blitz, or if you go into overtime. If your league uses the dice off rules, leftover rerolls give you a +1 modifier on the die roll for the OT shootout.

Of course, that's an awful lot of team rating to be carrying around...

Didn't there used to be a rule stating that if you had 8 or more rerolls you could use 2 a turn (but not on the same die)? It's not in LRB now, but I am sure I read that somewhere at one point, anyone know what I am referring to?

I can confirm that it was never in 3rd ed nor 4th ed. If it had been, i would have been aware of it when i was involved with the OBERWALD.

bah oberwald is totally unofficial...doesn't matter what it says/said.

you can have as many rerolls as you want. i had a wood elf team with 10, and they've used em all before too. :)

The point is that when you're the guy writing the OBERWALD (whose purpose i'll remind you was to clarify every rule that wasn't clear in the rulebook, and we all know how many of those there were in 3rd and 4th ed), it's your job to keep up on what's official and what's not, and carefully study every rule and every loophole. I'd say that makes me and the other two guys who worked on it prime candicates for knowing what was, and what wasn't official in 3rd and 4th ed.

By the way, don't confuse this with the prior versions of the OBERWALD, whose main purpose it seems was to list all the best house rules around. Two different beasts entirely.

I guess we could have. But that was years ago, so it's a bit late now.

Why is it OBERWALD and not Oberwald?

Just feels a little like shouting...

I would think it is very possible to have 8 rerolls and a leader. The only problem is you can only use 1 reroll a turn. To quote the LRB: " A coach may not use more than one re-roll counter per turn" And, as the leader skill gives you "a leader re-roll counter" this counts as one of your rerolls for the turn, so it is not even possible to use a normal re-roll and a leader re-roll in the same turn.
Basically, having 8 re-rolls and a leader gives you the option of saving that leader re-roll until it is vitaly needed, and allowing you to keep more re-rolls for overtime. All in all I would say it is not worth it.

Because it's an acronym for Online Bloodbowl Enthusiast's Reference With Assembled League Doctrines.

Might be a daft question, but if you haven't used your Leader RR in the 2nd half, does it carry over to OT?
