Re: Next team?
True, it should be 2520,but sadly GW changed the timeline with BB2016. I don't have my books on, but it should be easy enough to find.

The current year is 2496. I actually asked that JTY in May 2018, that's how I know.

Re: Next team?
Ok thanks. Question comes from the timeline of the new ogre team. They come back on 2494. Then it says “Present” and states: “In the years following their return...”DinoTitanedition wrote:The current year is 2496. I actually asked that JTY in May 2018, that's how I know.
To me that implies (many) more than just two years, hence my question.
It makes sense it is not 2520. Otherwise human stars should be retired. Maybe they do the temporal jump in BB2020 and change many star players/how the game is played?

Re: Next team?
When you don't read the older stuff or are simply too busy at work to keep track, temporal mess ups can happen. For example, At the release of the lizardmen team it was mentioned in WHTV that there was no other original lizardmen team in the background than the Lustria Croakers, but there was Sotek's Word in 4th ed. (ok, admittedly, that was an all out Skink team according to the background). Things like that happen, no biggie.
I can only advise to pause the nerd switch at that point. You have to keep in mind, that the primary objective of the company is to sell their products and generate winnings. "Fluff" only makes it a bit more attractive. But...this isn't 40K. The majority of BBlers is probably gamers, not narratively driven players. Again, nothing wrong with that, I only want to express that the background is of minor importance at that point.

I see. Guess it makes sense unless they wanted to retire all the old star players and make new ones to fit the timeline.Saebelsultan wrote:True, it should be 2520,but sadly GW changed the timeline with BB2016. I don't have my books on, but it should be easy enough to find.

Ermmm... Sure. I am not out with a pitchfork and a torch or anything like that. GW is a company trying to make money, but the people running BB seem to have an interest in developing the fluff properly, which is great. The BB fluff is really what got me onto the game when I was a kid, so I have an emotional attachment to it, I suppose, as my threads in the Team Blog section show O:-)DinoTitanedition wrote:When you don't read the older stuff or are simply too busy at work to keep track, temporal mess ups can happen. Maybe I come off as too negative. I am not saying the current fluff efforts are bad. Quite the contrary. I really like the model of a Spike! per team. And, of course, I prefer good rule improvements (I really like disposable) to a water-tight fluff. I am just not sure those are mutually exclusive. BB fluff is not that vast or complicated to keep track of everything (which 99% of the time they do, I think). Also, errors within the same Spike! (Morg vs Bob happening after Bob retires, for example) are easily avoidable.
Anyway, if anything, it should be read as "hey, at least someone cares about the fluff and we are not wasting our time doing this" instead of a harsh criticism of the writing/fluff team/person.

Naaah, it's allright, I didn't think you were negative about it and neither am I. All I was saying is, that it's easy to get confused with the amount of fluff (there is actually a lot...a looot) and despite our and and the guys at Forgeworld's effort and love for it, mistakes can and will happen and that they are, in this niche of an already niche hobby, not big enough for a follow up.
The fluff is what drew me in primarily as well. The mechanics were way less relevant to me back then already. I played football myself and I like fantasy. A mix of both...I'd say I'm pretty much the optimal target group

Re: Next team?
from the facebook of garro:
BloodBowl is also getting an Underworld Denizens team, but unsure if it will be fully new sculpts,or just a merged pack of the existing sprues for Goblins and Skaven, but they should be getting a Spike! magazine, dice, cards, and pitch for sure.
This source is a trusted one, who got me info regarding the plastic ZM scenery and the Slave to Darkness battletome ahead of their reveal/leaking. However until GW formally reveal them these are still rumours, so take a healthy amount of salt with it.

FW also do tokens and counters for them already: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Wh-U ... okens-2017
Don't see how they can reuse the Skaven sprue though, as UW can't have gutters, so some kind of tweak seems required at the least if it's not outright new minis.

new thinner and sinister goblins/skavens (more similar to the video game) would make me very happy

Hm, I think a new teampack is not on the horizon - getting a Gobbo and a Skaven team gives you all you need plus conversion parts. I could see some mutated positionals as a booster though. Collector stuff.

Re: Next team?
Spike, cards, and pitch would probably be just fine. I'd also be interested in a box with an Underworld Troll and some Underworld looking goblins. But that's highly unlikely. I'd be happy enough with just the Spike magazine. Hopefully it would mention which Special Balls are available to them.

this is the Chinese exports where the pitch is seen.
I hope they are also new miniatures
the strange thing is that they haven't shown them at the lvo seminar
