Re: Next team?
I actually liked the Savage Orc Team from the app. Though, I would prefer to have a themed box for that, with savage style but recognisable "sports" equipment. That could pait up pretty well with a couple of other teams to release a campaign book.
Example: "Road to Lurstria Bowl"
A campaign book containing a couple of predefined rosters, like the legendary teams. Players can take upon the role of
Savage Orcs,
Lizardmen,
Amazons,
themed Skaven,
themed Undead,
themed Human
Teams and simply play a series of five games. Nothing fancy, but something to add flavour and fluff. Just saying, it's not all TV1000 leagues and tournaments.
There's also room for a couple of teams that can be released in the future, in particular from races that offe a lot of variation within themselves. We've mentioned Snotlings, which is kind of a greenskin team, or factions in Chaos. Tilean or Marienburg teams could be possible as well and offer a mix of races, kind of as an opposite to Chaos Renegades. On a stream JTY also mentioned that he'd like to do a Nightgoblin team.
I guess you get the idea, Warhammer races with sub factions offer this kind of possibility.

Savage Orcs are fun! Picked up a box from fantasy, worked great:

Re: Next team?
As for alternate models with experimental rules, I would love to see a dwarf tech team ala the old Dwarf Warhammers with more secret weapons. And maybe a rough inner-city human team - like the Middenheim Marrauders who used to have a minotaur in 2nd ed! Some sort of biker elves would be pretty cool too.
But I think the most likely would be separate chaos factions if they make new teams.

Re: Next team?
What we need is a team that brings something completely new to the game. A sort of leaping team. I don't know but I can feel a froggy vibe with them.
Wonder what people would think about that?

Re: Next team?
Finally got my copy of Spike! 8. Great as always. Good job!
Couple of questions for J-TY if he reads it:
1) What is the official BB (in game) year?
2) Bob retires in 2471 (page 16) but the match-up vs Morg is in 2472 (page 12). Was that an oversight?

Frog blood bowl seems silly. The obvious route for a leapy team would be kangaroos. Is there an Australian equivalent in the old world?
Seriously though Savage Orcs are a decent build or close to it. Hopefully they can combine the fluff with bringing something new to the game.

Re: Next team?
Just to point out again, that Slann aren't actually frog men, despite appearances. They are space aliens, presumably from a high gravity world that allows them to leap well in the Blood Bowl world (much like astronauts on the moon...).
Is that less silly..?

Re: Next team?
I think the lore would support the general idea that Slann are both frog-like amphibians and "space aliens".
Personally I'm not wedded to the "leapy team" being Slann but i hope it finds a way to become an official modern Blood Bowl roster, be it as Kislev or whatever, because it's one of the most mechanically interesting teams in the game.
