Great news. Was worried we were going to be Merrick-less for a while...

Just one weekend left for rosters before I start handing out penalties for late rosters guys. Obviously if you have only just bought I ticket you will not have any penalties...

What penalties? And do they apply if minds are changed on what roster to bring?

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Anyone who has already submitted a roster can change it, and of they qualified for the early bird bonus they would lose it (as I have already had your rosters printed, etc).

No in game penalties are applicable until after the 27th July deadline. After this, at my discretion, I will apply a 1 tournament point deduction per day your roster is late.

I appreciate why you (may) do this, but as someone that's already signed / rostered up, I don't want to come ahead of a coach who has the same w/d/l as me because I'm a more organised person or because my life didn't throw me a last minute curveball.

Can I suggest you embark on a policy of a (strongly) suggested charity donation of £1 / day the roster is late, and to ensure you aren't swamped by roster checking on the day of the event, some attendees could be rounded up into a registration roster checking posse? I'm happy to volunteer as a member of that group, rather than have coaches penalised by off-pitch factors. I appreciate this means you perhaps won't be giving all coaches printed copies of their rosters, but I'm sure this isn't a huge deal, considering it would only affect a minority of players in the field..?

(Nothing NAF-fy and instructive about this post, merely the opinion of an attendee. It is, of course, up to you)

But isn't this a game about dominance on and off the pitch? It's all about the meta game!

I will take any edge I can get but I also completely agree with Phil. Especially when we are using 3/1/0 and it could lead to someone losing 2 whole wins.

That's why its at my discretion. It has been advertised for a very long time that if rosters aren't in with one week to go before the event there will be points deductions, but I am not heartless so if people have a genuine reason why their roster is late, they won't lose the points. Not being bothered to submit it isn't a good enough reason IMHO.

I appreciate the efforts people have gone to get me their rosters before the early bird deadline, and that why they are being rewarded. There is also a final deadline for a very good reason, and that is try and make it easier for myself and the orga Team to ensure there are no illegal rosters being used (as had happened at events in the last 12 months). It also allows us to provide all the rosters in the same format, and have a backup copy for WHEN (not if) people lose them. We also use their rosters and welcome packs as a way of knowing who has turned up in the morning, and who we are still waiting for. We can also do the draw, publicise it and start building up the excitement for the first round beforehand, get the trash talk going, etc.

Also, i personally don't want to be faffing around with people's rosters on the morning of the event (Or even getting people to do this on the Day) As I sure I will be very busy doing other stuff!

Not bacon this year am afraid, but plenty of danish pastries and croissants will be available.
