Re: TFF 2017 - Legacy team - Model Selection
I've not started painting yet but Zara is based and ready to be primed. I've based her on a 32mm base from the new box, she doesn't look as daft as I'd feared....
I'll try and post a picture once I get home from work.

Dwarf arrived successfully - for the people already starting (and for the wider audience also) are we going flagstones and how does one successfully achieve that on a base?
My basing expertise extends to varying wildly with my latest Lizard team and going for a gravel, with bits of grass/moss poking through effect (everything else has just been green flock

Yeah, I meant to ask this too.mawph wrote:Dwarf arrived successfully - for the people already starting (and for the wider audience also) are we going flagstones and how does one successfully achieve that on a base?

Could a reasonable effect be obtained by basing with sand and then using a blade to score into the sand, creating the individual flagstones?
I'm hoping this will work as I went and based my mini without thinking about how I was going to create the stone effect.

I'm guessing the most popular method will be applying a thin layer of greenstuff to the base and moulding the flagstones into it...

I've just realised that I hadn't posted the picture of Zara I had taken. Apologises for the quality of it.
Originally I had planned to kit bash her out of some left over bits of the wyches boxset I used to make my dark elves out of. However when I starting rummaging through my stuff I found this model I received free from a hassle free order.
I like the pose, it literally screams Dauntless to me, also adding the stake was well within my limited capabilities. Drilled through the fist, glued a brass rod in place and built up the shape with greenstuff.
She'll be undercoated with the Rolljordan Crocs and painted on and off alongside my other projects.
As I'm a fully paid up member of the CFFF (Clothing For Female Footballers) movement, she'll be wearing her teal pants "superhero style" over skin tight grey leggings.......

I was waiting on some advice on the base before painting too. I can make something with greenstuff or plasticard, but it would obviously be better if there was a standard approach.

I'm all for greenstuff and scoring lines in for flagstones. It feels within my modelling capabilities!
I've also trimmed the tab of my new GW blitzer down to fit on an old school round slotta.

Zara is primed ready to receive paint, my plan is to start early next week. The weekend is very much for playing rather than painting, as I'm off to Monkeybowl.

I'm undercoated. Switched back to the new size of base too (easier flagstoning).

Re: TFF 2017 - Legacy team - Model Selection
Actually - real questions now - what colour stone and what colour grey?
I'm aiming to start after next weekend (maybe on the weekend...) so would be good to know how dark we're expecting the grey to be and if grey stone is also the expectation.

As for the stone bases, using s light grey to contrast the grey in the colour scheme might be nice.

Without direction, that was going to be my thinking - will just need to double check my painting supplies before I start in earnest now

Stone isn't necessarily grey, could always mix it up a bit.innerdemon wrote:As for the stone bases, using s light grey to contrast the grey in the colour scheme might be nice.
