Working the clock means taking control about the game in Offence and select your time to run the touchdown in.

Running it in fast will help if your elf players keep dropping out quickly to get some KOs and Reserves on the field. It's also something you would do to score more often if the opponent is heavily reduced.

Stalling the game and scoring in the last turn of a half will help strength teams to do a maximum of damage before the drive, to minimize time for the other team to score and to have fewer players coming back from KO due to fewer kickoffs. It could also help a non-bashy team, if they got some lucky dice and won the upperhand over a strength team of course.

I thought he was referring to the time limit per turn. I understand all that other stuff, just didn't understand how the 2 minute time limit could be worked to any advantage.

The term "Working the clock" comes from American Football and applies to game (half/quarter) time (= turns in Blood Bowl).

The time limit per turn is 4 minutes by LRB default (but that's a different story).

This just gave me a thought: is it not true that the teams who most need the pass are the ones least suited to its use?

The fast, passing teams - Woodies and rats - run as much as pass. They only need hand offs most of the time.

It's your slow arsed dwarfs and Orcs who need to toss the ball around to get it away from swifter defenders. The undead and CDs have speed (Ghouls and Bulls respectively) and so combine the best of both worlds.

Actually with a couple doubles on some blitzers, the orcs are very good at the passing plays. Give a couple Blitzers catch and a passing play is definately possible.

Orcs have throwers which are perfectly good combined with blitzers, who on doubles can get catch.

Got a double on my Orc team's captain straight off. He took Dodge, and it has really paid off. Seeing as Orcs are basicly a running team Dodge is a better choice on a double...or Stand Firm.

Orcs have Goblins to catch the ball.

Or rerolls.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
