Post by Poxous »

I got a doubles on a orc linemen. This is his first skill. My team is hard nose so what skill does a lame lineman take?

3 BOs: blockx3; 1 mightyblow
4 blitzers: 2guard, 1 strip ball, 1 tackle, 3 mighty blow
1 thrower: block, accurate
Troll: block
3 linemen: 1kick/dirty player, 1guard, and this guy with doubles???

Guard???

good double skills are dodge, guard (another), Mighty Blow (I always have to consider that one; I really like it a lot), Sidestep (for fun and the look on your opponents face), Frenzy/Dauntless (may not really need them, Frenzy is really good when rolling the cage down the sideline though.)

Take "Leader"

Extra RR, and you can use it for your Troll.

I always take Leader on Lineman doubles, as your positional players need every double to beef themselves up with special skills.

Leader is an excellent choice as you can use it on the Troll.

Diving Tackle would be pretty useful if there are lots of flair teams around.

Guard is a decent choice if there is plenty of strength around.

I always take guard, but leader is also a good choice.

Depends on the shape of your team. With 4 Blitzers, 4 BOBs and a Big Guy you have plenty of access to Guard and MB. I'd go Dodge or Leader.

Definately Leader but I'm not so sure about the Troll-thing.

From LRB p35: The counter is used in exactly the same way as a Team Re-Roll counter

A TR cannot be used on a Big Guy so, in my understanding, the Leader re-roll cannot be used on the Troll

Your doubt is understandable and your argumentation is clear but this question has been answered by the BBRC in their FAQ sheet which you can download from www.bloodbowl.com

They have ruled that you can use trophy and leader RRs for Big Guys. Obviously a fluff-based answer as reading the rules would favour the opposite decision.

One can never have to much guard :)

My guess is he will be most helpful with guard, so he can assist your hitters. Remember to play to your strengths.

I wouldn't waste a double for guard on an orc lineman when you can get it easily for BoB. A lineman with guard will easily be pounded first to prevent him giving guard. St3 and no block make him an easy target.

Take Leader, set up the lineman on the wide-zones or as a defender and enjoy re-rolling Really Stupid or the infamous tripple push-backs Trolls usually roll.

I never liked leader... But that's mostly because as a Dwarf you don't need it at all.

I think Leader should have stayed a skill, I wouldn't waste a double on it.

However, Leader might be handy once in a while for the Troll, that's true...

That's right, but only for Dwarfs. For having a safety net for your Rat Ogre or Minotaur, or as re-rolling bonehead/really stupid for an emergency blitz in order to prevent a TD or re-roll a fumbled TTM it's awesome.
