I actually like that a lot. It looks like a pretty natural movement to a skaven, and since I`ve seen skaven minis wielding knives with their tail, why shouldn`t they be able to wield a bloodball?

The dwarf has also a nice new appearance. It`s a good thing to move a bit forward with the look of the miniatures, since I personally feel, that most BB minis look a liiiiiittle bit too aged by now. It`s also nice to get everything in plastic or harder resin. Most hanger-on producers use that material anyway already.

Well, at least the upcoming teams seem to solidify as we`re getting more 3d eyecandy of skaven and dwarves. Would not bet on it, but since the concept art of nurgle, pro elves and goblins has been seen already, those will follow up the stompies and the rats.

Rats do have long tails, yes.
But they do not have prehensile tails.

A rat does use it's tail for balance while running, it can't grip anything with it.
Well, at least not until they mutated one into existense... :orc:

That is why I do not like it.

Well...I don`t get the point...if it`s about the look-rule-ratio, I`d say there is a lot of miniatures with this "situation". But hey...it`s called fantasy football, not realism football, right? ;)

According to wiki 'Rats have been known to be able to wrap the tail around an object after running around it, therefore giving the creature a small bit of balance. They have also been seen to be able to briefly hang off an object, though not for long.'

If a rat can hold its weight for a small amount of time, I think it is reasonable to assume it could hold a football once you factor in the size ratio of skaven-rats. With a little bit of practice I am sure it could get rather handy with the tail, and carrying a ball would be no problem. Passing accurately might be a step too far, but no one has said he used the tail for throwing. Just for holding the ball while he hands off opponents as he scampers down the sideline.

There is miniatures of skaven wielding poisoned knives with their tails. With knives being a lot heavier than a football, I'd say the ability of skaven using all their extremeties with a certain finesse is herewith settled.

Guys, this is a game with a huge selection of models available to us. If you don't like one of them, don't get it.

I had several pet rats in my life and they all couldn't do sh*t with their tails.
Might be I only got weak-tailed loser-rats as pets...

As fascinating as the skaven/rat tail discussion is BOLS has posted more info about the boxed set.

some key things
  • Boxed set will be out before Christmas.
  • Human, Orc, High Elf, Wood Elf, Dark Elf, Elven Nations (pro elves I assume), Nurgle, Dwarf and Skaven will be released.
  • A dead zone supplement will follow.
  • Looks like we are getting new staff too.
  • Talk of dungeonbowl too, lets hope they sort the rules out first as the Cyanide game was a mess.

BOLS isn`t telling anything new here to be honest. At least to me all this info seems familiar already.

In the videos on the Facebook page they stated that the rules didn`t change much. I would prefer more random effects, so the game gets less predictable, creating a new tactical challenge each time, but taking the level of amusement another notch upwards. Maybe something to make the game faster....casual players need a lot of time for a match.
