I don't accept paying any price either, but GW seems to think they can get away with any price. Thus I stopped buying their paints loooong ago, for example, as all other miniature paints I know go for less, and high end artist paints too (once you compute they give you more, so sticker 2x is fine for 5x quantity); all them come in good containers and ranges are stable over the years. So I'm not being exploited in paints because I don't let them, not because they don't try.rolo wrote:When you say "milking" it sounds like you think you're being exploited somehow. I guess where I differ from some of the more virulent anti-GW haters out there is that I accept paying for products which I want. That's how markets work. If GW makes a product good enough for me to want it, for a price I'm willing to pay, I'll buy it. It's increasingly sounding like they "get it" and intend to sell the new boxed set on its own merits. If it's shoddy though, or too expensive, I'll leave it on the shelf.Steam Ball wrote:Maybe they know and it's the reason CRP was not totally thrown away, just sliced and progressively changed to make the milking more attractive.
I just hope that when people say this new "slicing" is to make it cheaper, it really is the case, and not to keep the price barely cheaper than before in a per SKU terms, but multiplied by 3 or way more once you realize how many products match the original. Making it milking (maybe should I use prettier words common in marketing and business operation practices? it would still be a "rose"), or an affordable way to get into the game, is in GW hands.

I might have to start an anti-GW stance if that is true.Wobert wrote: 2. No Zara! Andy isn't a fan of Zara so she is for the chop but a new female star player is incoming in an expansion
3. There will be new teams and Chaos Pact will most likely make an appearance. However, new teams and Pact will most likely be in a later 'Chaos League' expansion which will be special rules for running a competition with various daemon teams and the like in.

Zara is one of the best models they did and a pretty interesting and varied star. if any star should be got rid of it is Hubris as that was the ugliest model I have seen in quite a while.
Really hope we get the 21 (24) existing teams before they start adding yet more chaos teams. With vanilla, nurgle, pact and evil stunties they are pretty well spoken for, not to mention the mediocre khorne daemon team on cyanide.

It's because Zara is just Buffy The Vampire Slayer, she's a bit weak fluff wise which is putting it mildly and that's the sort of thing that has to matter to GW. So they can create a Star that does the same sort of job and fills the same role for the same teams, but that has a better background and fits the world more.
Zara will still be there in the CRP, she just won't be getting her rules reprinted or a new model.

No, but he was raised by dwarves, like Zara (and unlike Buffy, unless I missed that episode).

I do like Zara ... when I was playing Amazons, she was quite often the best Star Player option. And she's popular enough by now that she's made her own fluff
What I love about Zara is that she owns everything which gave my Amazons trouble. ST5 Big Guys? She's a 2+ Dauntless roll away from matching that. Super irritating Ghouls/Gutter Runners/Wardancers/etc? Stabby stabby stabby! Plus she's another Blodger on a team which generally fields more Blodgers than anyone else.
One time I induced her against an Ogre team that was like 400k higher than me. The poor Ogres never knew what hit them. She was stabbing Snotlings all day, when the Ogres knocked her down she'd Jump-up and hit them back. Stabbing Snotlings is just mean because they can't even sidestep, and with the super low armor and the Stunty injury roll ... I felt bad but didn't stop.
If she's still in the game but with another name and different fluff, that's fine. I'll still call her Zara.

if she was raised by dwarves (folllowing fluff), it's strange she is not allowed to play for them?
I will miss her

She could play for Dwarfs. She was in the CRP as being available to Amazons, Dwarfs, Halflings, High Elves, Humans and Norse.babass wrote:if she was raised by dwarves (folllowing fluff), it's strange she is not allowed to play for them?

confirmed this morning on FB by Andy Hoare that old Star Players (and rosters) would NOT be removed/unsupported, simply might not get new models

If they aren't getting new models they aren't getting their rules printed either, I think is a solid rule of thumb to follow, because in recent years GW has stopped printing rules for stuff they don't make miniatures for.
Miniatures first, rules second.
Doesn't stop them being in the CRP/Icepelt edition and perfectly legal if you wish.

It's beginning to sound like a return to the era of having some rules published in the manual, some in WD, some in the journal and nobody quite agreeing with what's official and what's not.
I like it.

That's cool then, whilst Zara's background is pretty much a straight rip off at least she has some, unlike quite a few of the newer stars.JT-Y wrote:It's because Zara is just Buffy The Vampire Slayer, she's a bit weak fluff wise which is putting it mildly and that's the sort of thing that has to matter to GW. I like that she is a unique player that can be fielded by multiple varied teams. I wasn't too impressed with the rules for the 3 2nd edition stars they brought back and hope they avoid just sprucing up a positional players with a few bland skills.

Re: Anyone ready to change their anti-GW stance yet?
Background is going to be a big thing for all the Stars from what I hear, some are having background written where they had little to none, some are having it expanded, and some are having it restored where it's changed.
I think the rules for Frank, Bilerot and Rasta were more a case of giving those classic models some rules to use today rather than being indicative of the approach being taken to the Stars getting new FW resin minis and featuring in the publications to come.
That is of course not to say that we won't see those 3 re-imagined as new models with new backgrounds in the future. We might, I don't know. I'd quite like to see a new Frank N Stein though.
