I was told in the Norwich store yesterday that this was unlikely, but that they might just carry the game.JT-Y wrote:To the best of my knowledge yes. Warhammerfest Roundup of the Bloodbowl release 2016 or 2017?

I think it highly likely that they'll have the actual boxed game in store, along with each store running a league. I think that there will also be other products available in GW stores, but there'll be more than a few, only available from Forgeworld.

I haven't checked for a few weeks, but my local store weren't sure if they'd be carrying the box. They also only have what, two tables? Apparently they're set up so that one is always warhammer (or sigmar or whatever they call it these days) and one always 40k, so it's very unlikely they'll have a league running (much to the disappointment of the store manager).
Also learned that the stores are apparently of a certain dimension selected so that they can carry limited stock and still fill the walls so it looks like its packed with products. Interesting chat.
Incidentally, a GW store league could be problematic here as many of our longer term coaches, by virtue of them being out of print and hard to come by, don't own any GW models. It's more likely that we'll discuss a solution for the store continuing to support our league and in return that we'll volunteer coaches for intro games.
YMMV

Could well be; but then is the one man store model universal? I don't really know all that much about GW's MO, you'll know better than I do I suspect.
Perhaps it may be different depending on where you are in the world. Just sharing my experience, that's all.

The Wollongong GW store seems to be a one man deal - but I'm not sure what happens with days off given the store is open 7 days.
My manager is keen for a league and is fine with space. He wasn't sure about non-GW models, but he might be a little more flexible than most.
I think that offering a 'learner league' out of the GW store, and that feeds into a main league elsewhere could be one option around the issue (I'm just thinking out loud here).

He may have been being polite about non GW models. GW invest a lot of money in promoting gaming, with their products, and it would defeat the business objective to end up advertising someone else's product in store. That's what independent stores are for, but unfortunately you probably don't have an independent near you.

Tell him to just start looking for another job, trying to get sacked is stupid.Babs wrote:He wasn't sure about non-GW models, but he might be a little more flexible than most.

OK, I am now officially excited since it may bring some fresh blood to the game.
GW is not going to make more money out of me since I got all the figs and equipment that I need, but I look forward to new players that do not have all the sarcasm and GW paranoia of old guys like me

wonder if they will promote in their cyanide game, since they sort of have a good amount of leverage over them

Aren`t they doing that already, simply by having the same boxart cover?

what i mean is having a loading screen advertise the existence of the new table top version
right now i could look at the front of the ps4 game and not know a table top version exists

The box art might actually be different, they're revealing the proper one this weekend. So far we've seen mock ups.
But they are using a lot of Cyanide's artwork. Silly not to I suppose.
They're reusing some classic artwork as well which is good, I for one would be saddened if Wayne England's iconic work didn't feature again, and have their own new artwork incoming. More on that in due course
And yes, it'd be silly not to get Cyanide to run a few adverts for the new box set I totally agree.

Silly yes, but seeing as Cyanide have enough trouble promoting their own stuff (Mac release anyone?) then it might be asking to much of them.JT-Y wrote:And yes, it'd be silly not to get Cyanide to run a few adverts for the new box set I totally agree.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
