Yeah, if your pub stopped selling beer years ago (now juices only) and expects everyone to appear with whatever they bought before. Or maybe converted, I mean fermented, fruit juices. :orc:

But..........they're going to do tutorials on how to make your own beer to bring, using their ingredients. Which I think is pretty proactive.

Remember the world of GW and the world that BB has become now are very very different. BB, as we know it, is a competitive TT game. BB for GW is a modelling and TT game, they go hand in hand. A blind chimp could take plastic Warhammer figures and make a BB team out of it. It just depends on whether those that don't have official GW figures are willing to do so. Price is also not a factor. You can pick up some older GW plastic figures for pennies. Lizards, Elves, Goblins for example.

Here, just looking are enough goblins to make a team (ok P&P is over the top, but blame royal mail for that) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warhammer-AoS ... SwP~tW1hml and their ok figures. Really revolutionary at the time.

Edit: Even better! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warhammer-pla ... SwXshWrPln £3.50 for 2 types of High Elf. A catcher/lineman mix.

Well, they say they're going to do tutorials...

Yes........I did think the same........being GW. The outlaid plan is pretty good, but I'm also a little worried (plan for pitches they've given away for example). However, they have the talent to do some amazing tutorials that would be really beneficial to everybody.

The last set I did was with a 7th/8thish warhammer Orc boxset. There were some awesome shoulder pads in the set and different poses for different positions. Also players could use Spubbbba as reference. More than half of the teams he does are conversions from GW plastics (I think).

Don't get me wrong, I agree, I just think if they're going to try to encourage new blood, without having teams to sell, they should have these sort of tutorials ready to go - it's no good putting up some tutorial 2-3 days before the event, especially with their "fully painted" rule. Not everyone has the skill, experience or confidence to tackle conversions like this, at least not without some sort of guide.

And while I agree that teams like spubbba's and J-TY's are good ideas (even if I couldn't get to that level) not all the players going (especially the new ones) are going to know about them, because they don't know about TFF and/or the NAF sites.

I did post a link to the Article I wrote about converting sci-fi and fantasy models for use in Blood Bowl in the facebook event.

But as there were mention of other miniature providers in there I didn't want to push it too hard. Not sure if there is an easy way to reach your average GWer without spamming everywhere.

Let's see; the positive
I like how they have written inducements into the coaching staff. Apart from the Apothacary, not rolling injury and only being able to get one bribe I did not see any rules changes. Leader for every team as sponsorship does not bother me; clearly better for teams with expensive re-rolls.

Negative
The tournament scoring system favours Dash teams who can throw a completion every turn. There might be an opportunity for a bash team to try and capitalise on getting casualties from low AV but they are still too random to rely on. The semi-random skill up after each game do not help a tournament structure.

Overall I am glad I already booked for the NAF Champs as this is not shaping up to be an event I would enjoy.

So I take Dark Elves, sit in the back field and Quick Pass between my two Runners, getting 1 point every time. Meanwhile the rest of my team holds them back and hopefully gets some Cas.

When the opposing team finally gets to me I potentially use Dump-Off to gain another point. If not, my opponent likely scores and I get the ball back to rinse and repeat. Near the end of the half I score (my opponent probably over-commits at this point as I've not tried to score so far and I can get a player out the back).

If you don't want to try the Dump-Off routine, you just take Wood Elves and move the ball up to score when your opponent finally gets near your backfield or you do the same thing with Skaven and Gutter Runners. Or take High Elves so you have a Pass and Catch re-rolls if you're worried about using up re-rolls.

In the second half (and maybe a little in the first half) I foul at every opportunity to try and get my players sent off, gaining another SPP for each one.

How the heck is this set-up anywhere close to being better or more fun than the normal Blood Bowl that everyone else plays?

But you would never win the McMurty's Fair Play Award with them kind of plays.

I think this event is all about trying to revive an old game and show it off to new players and give them a chance to have fun, not about who can break the rules to produce the most statistical way of winning the cup :-?

But this is exactly what a lot of veteran players will likely do!
Most people are so keen on winning and the fact that in about 6 months nobody will ever ask HOW you've won that event will end up in a scenario like that.

I don't know who had the brilliant idea to make 2 completions worth the same amount of points as an interception or a casualty or 3 of them as much as a touchdown.
I can already imagine half the teams to be elves as this ruleset favors AG-teams a lot. You can pass the ball easily as bot thrower and receiver have AG 4 and, other than dwarf or orc, can score quickly if they choose to.
Think about it! A hard earned touchdown from some orcs can be equalized by just 3 passes from elves!

I'm so glad that there always was the phrase "for this event" when they pointed out rule changes from the CRP.
Let's pray this won't get permanent when BB is re-released...

If that's what you want to do, then don't reward people for figuring out a way to beat the system.

People will do what they are rewarded for. If you win the tournament by doing bullshit stuff like I described in my post above, then people will do exactly that.

Honestly, whoever came up with that scoring system really didn't think it out very well.
