Surely GW take the experiences with Space Hulk vs Dudfleet releases on board and ensure that a Blood Bowl re-release will be more along the lines of what they did with Space Hulk (i.e. largely unchanged, but with new minis and components).Steam Ball wrote:Let's hope they learn from:

Re: GW bringing back Specialist Games?!?
That kinda depends on the new game being better than the old one. Some people may have gone 'ooooh!' about BB2. A lot of people didn't.jdmofo wrote: I guess I could condense everything I said down to:

Like a videogame that you play to death and put aside and then a sequel come out and you're like 'ooooh!'

With video games you are usually getting a step forward. Even if it is only mostly graphics.
With blood bowl if you are bored you could play a season where everyone uses stunty teams. Everyone uses elves. Every team gets two players with CPOMB + two more with (LRB4) DP and (CRP+) sneaky git. You could play Secret League.
Changing the rules to 'fix' issues with the current rules is fair enough. Changing them just to make people buy more stuff? Pffft.
Give people cool models and they'll buy them. You don't need to change the rules for that.

Hmm, let me see... this article about GW history. The "Strange new worlds" section (search those words) if you want to skip the rest. The market research method to find first store locations is "fun"; all parts have some insight in how GW operated, try to read it in full if you have time.rmilsom wrote:can you post a link to that(see the interview with old staff that was released days ago).

Re: GW bringing back Specialist Games?!?
I'm reading through the thread for the first time, and I want to answer this right away. So excuse me if it has been answered. I'll remove it later if I find that!mikeyc222 wrote:if GW does change the rules, slightly or drastically, and you don't like them, then don't use them... calm down everyone. the BB world isn't going to end because GW says it's going to rerelease the game.
We've bitched for years that GW abandon the game, now we're bitching about them reviving the game. sheesh... no wonder GW doesn't like us.
all is said in fun, of course.

Now, to the point:
- I think this is true: I've been running a league for the past 15 years, a tourney for the last 3, and we went from 3rd to LRB 6.0 rather smoothly. We could have stuck to LRB 5 (or 3rd for that matter). We were interested enough in the nerfing to stick to current rulesets;
- The main reason we stuck though, is because of tourneys. We love playing tourneys (I don't play enough, but hey! Thats' life!) and would hate to play tourneys in a different ruleset than our league.
So if there's a major change of rules we don't like, but NAF jumps in and NAF-ranked tourneys jump in too, then we're screwed.
All this to say this is where I'm afraid of what GW can do with this game. I don't care for new races (even though I HATE Khorne), new boxsets, new whatever: they can already have my money if it looks good (plus: I badly need a new pitch). I'm worried they'll screw up the game I love, the community I love and the tourneys I love attending.

Re: GW bringing back Specialist Games?!?
Was checking out Warseer and looks like some pics of the new models GW are working on have been posted.
Battle Bunnies site
More from the Sepulchre Of Heroes site
Looks like Humans and Orcs are well under way so I expect they will be in a new boxed set for sure. There's also concept art for Nurgle and Dwarfs.
No Sigmarines which is a good sign so maybe BB isn't getting the AoS treatment.

Re: GW bringing back Specialist Games?!?
I was at the GW birthday event today and spoke to Andy Hoare who will be heading up the new Specialist Games.
Although the models and concepts were on the FW stand, Blood Bowl will be the first game published by the relaunched Specialist Games. The box is "probably" less than 12 months away from release, with the orc and human shown concepts.
The rules haven't yet seen any development, but won't stray too far from previous editions (although probably not the Tournament Edition or linked to Cyanide). The contents will include plastic humans and orcs, both digitally sculpted. There may be 4-6 other teams released in resin.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
