Variant (Street, Dungeon, etc.) tournament committee.
I'm forming a committee in the hopes of modernizing and standardizing the rules for variant tournaments (in particular: Beach, Death, Dungeon, Sevens, and Street) in order to create baseline standards for NAF-sanctioned tournaments.
If you:
A) have ever run a variant tournament or a tournament in which variant rules were used for certain rounds,
and
B) are interested in going through a (possibly lengthy) process of debate and revision,
please contact me about being part of the committee. Item A isn't 100% mandatory if you've got another similar qualification.
Thanks.

The rules for Sevens, Street, and Dungeon Sevens (better known to this point as Adelaide DungeonBowl) are essentially done. Or at least far enough along for widespread and ranked playtesting. We're just trying to get the documents polished up a bit before sharing them with the world. Please contact me if you're interested in using them for tournament play in the near future.
The others have stalled a bit and will probably take longer yet.

Im hearing rumors that you guys are going to make a ruling on these things at the WC. Sounds super cool if the NAF is going to support variant tournament.

Well, variant tournaments can already be sanctioned. The issue was that most of the rules were out of date. These new documents will become the base rules from which organizers can make (minor) divergences, as CRP/LRB is for regular tournaments.Bakunin wrote:Gaixo wrote:The rules for Sevens, Street, and Dungeon Sevens (better known to this point as Adelaide DungeonBowl) are essentially done. So one could make a variant tournament right now, where games woud be ranked like a normal naf tournament?Gaixo wrote:Well, variant tournaments can already be sanctioned. Indeed one could. The only difference is that the games flagged as variant matches, so that the next NAF website can include separate rankings for each variant.

I would be interested in the Street rules to see how the differ from the rules put together by the Zlurpee crowd.

Re: Variant (Street, Dungeon, etc.) tournament committee.
I'll send them over, but they aren't too influenced by the Ultimate Street stuff. Those rules seemed to be aimed at making the games more robust to fill a traditional tournament schedule, while we were interested in keeping the games brief and relatively simple.

Re: Variant (Street, Dungeon, etc.) tournament committee.
I talked to el presidente aka beppe at the wc.
Variants will get their seperate ranking on the new side, once the side is up. Until that tournaments can be run and results stored to be uploaded when it is technical possible.
All good news for the first european Adelaide Dungeonbowl tournament in march 2016.
