Where to get a good looking orc team?

Post by elde »

There are plenty of different and beautiful teams shown around, but I'm not seeing enough orcs here. There are some teams available, I like some of them (Meiko, Neomics), some are nice in their own way (Greebo, Arro-Gaspez WW2), but I'm not sure if I'd buy a set of those teams. Outside of making conversions from GW Orc Boyz, am I missing some orc teams? What miniatures are you using for your orcs? I'm starting to lean towards Meiko or Neomics.

I like Meiko's. They are great sculpts and easy to paint due to their complexity, even if that might sound contradictory. Just paint and wash 'em. Real narly bastards on the field these fellas.

I play Neomics with two Shadowforge Orc ladies as BOBs to spice things up.
Also, Darkson posted these a few weeks ago: http://talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopi ... 23&t=41024 I quite like those, too.

40k Orks work nicely as well. Better than WFB Orcs. Quite affordable as well for a box of Nobz and a box of Boyz.

Two Ork Nobz as Black Orcs:

And two Ork Boys with extra armour plates as Blitzers:

Hey elde,

I have the Neomics team and they are really a very nice team. Add some of the same company's goblins and you have a very good looking team.
My next team is coming from RN Estudio. Avaiable soonish I hope.

Pork orcs are probably a tribute to 70-80s style of some brands (like early D&D IIRC).

Baueda had female "somethings", called "troggettes".

I have just put together the impact orcs and I must say I am really impressed.
The qualiti of the sculpts and the detail are amazing.

Very easy to put together as well.

I knew there were some orcs I had missed. The new RN Studio orcs look great, I like the fact that there are no duplicate models. Wish I had known a bit earlier about them, when the campaign was still running.

The 40k orc conversions are really successful, and look amazing with that paintjob. Choosing a team just got quite a bit more difficult.

DixonCider, you probably mean the Greebo orcs.

I would strongly recommend kit-bashing from 40K and WHFB plastics. I did it 13 years ago and they remain one of my favorite teams. The nice thing is you can really pose the minis to your own liking and you're guaranteed to end up with a unique team..

if I was to buy a metal team though, it would be absolutely the Neomics or the RN Estudios teams. The rest are either too "themed" for my personal taste, or just too big IMHO..

I have to say a lot of the orcs shown in the original post are not very good sculpts. I only think Black Scorpion, Neomics RN Estudio and puppetswar are well made and not that keen on some of those designs.

It is very easy to kitbash a decent looking team from GW plastics, both 40K and Fantasy. Only trouble is unless you have JT-Y's skills it will resemble dozens of other orc teams out there.

One other option is to combine metal kits with GW stuff like i did with the Neomics orcs. I liked them but thought some were a bit low on armour so added some shoulder pads, loin cloths and did heads swaps. Below are the black orcs which had the most changes on them.

i'm a very big fan of the orcs from NECROM. the figures have a lot of "character" and are "fun" looking but violent at the same time. after i bought a team, 2 of my league mates bought teams for themselves.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

You dont want to make business with that joker, if he's still in business at all. That amazon project left people mugged for their money.
