New pitch/field recommendations for Blood Bowl
Hi,
I'm new to the forum but thought I would make a post thread to ask for some advice
I was thinking of getting a new pitch for Blood Bowl, mine has now seen many season's play and is looking decidedly dog-eared. The fans are getting tired of the poor facilities, ticket sales are dropping and the Franchise is looking about for a new venue to play in! From searching the web I can see there are quite a few different products on offer now for this sort of thing, and wonder if anyone had any recommendations?
Here are a few of the more common ones I have found through searching
FF-Fields http://www.ff-fields.com/?page_id=188
The pitches look really cool, but the fact that you have to contact the producer for a quote I guess means they are horrendously expensive?
Comixininos http://www.comixininos.com/blood-bowl-a ... ninos.html
These look pretty interesting, are they of similar construction type to the original BB pitch?
They also have some roll-able felt-type mats, which look very reasonably priced, does anyone have any experience of these?
http://www.comixininos.com/blood-bowl-a ... ninos.html
Very grateful for any advice anyone can offer, or a point in the direction of a good review etc. Also very happy to see any other suggestions for a field that someone might have!

Impact do a felt pitch that works well: http://impactminiatures.com/index.php?option=gamemat
I've both the mats from Impact and pitches from FF-fields (both the jigsaw and vinyl versions) and can recommend both.

Personally I am not a fan of the roll up vinyl pitches. They can curl when playing, unless weighted down and more awkward to store than a flat pitch that fits on my bookshelf.
I highly recommend the hard plastic jigsaw pitches from FFFields.

Depending on where you are in the world, this might be an alternative.
In a guy in our league that runs a small side business, although everything’s in German, I'm sure he'd respond to English

I also have the felt pitch by Impact Miniatures and thought that was a bargain for the price. Very good qaulity! I now have turned it into a custom build BB arena. Also didn't have any roll up issues with this one.
I also have a FF Fields pitch jigsaw style. Nice, hard board, excellent print. I made some modifications to the design and ended up just over 100 € including shipping. Standard pitches start from 45 € I heard. Rollable vinyl pitches may be cheaper.
Mine took quite a while to produce though due to unexpected delays at the print. I don't know if FF Fields have the custom pitches in stock, which would go a lot faster to ship.
Oh, and the pitches Pedda refers to (at least I think he does... http://onlineshop.kohli.de/fantasy-foot ... ielfelder/?) do look very nice and come in a wide range of styles and with customisation options.
Coming back to rollup issues using vinyl pitches - which I also hate -, I find that a) if you a heavy enough material (I used 510g/m for my X-Wing mat) and b)if you roll it up having the printed side on the outside, it lies quite flat from the start and completly flat after a couple of minutes. It very much depends on the material though and that needs to be checked carefully before ordering.

Re: New pitch/field recommendations for Blood Bowl
Many, many thanks for all of the replies - has given me a lot to look at!
At the moment I am torn between two fields in particular
The Comixininos puzzle-type board
http://www.comixininos.com/blood-bowl-a ... ninos.html
And an FF board sold on the same site
http://www.comixininos.com/blood-bowl-a ... ields.html
Both look quite similar in concept, but.. the price difference! Now I know you generally get what you pay for, but at more than double the price what makes the FF board better? I like the idea of the flat/plastic board, I assume this would be a similar kind of construction to the original GW board?
Once again many thanks for the comments!

is anyone producing pitches on mouse pad material? The Heroclix group has had some made/wizkids sent them out as prize support. They looked really good

Mantic have done something similar for their Deadzone and Mars Attacks games. I can see that working well for a BB pitch.DixonCider wrote:is anyone producing pitches on mouse pad material? The Heroclix group has had some made/wizkids sent them out as prize support. They looked really good
FF-Fields have only just finished a Kickstarter style campaign for their jigsaw-style pitches (more info here) but you could always email and ask, if it appealed.Pacific wrote:I was thinking of getting a new pitch for Blood Bowl, mine has now seen many season's play and is looking decidedly dog-eared.

+1 on this idea, anyone who registered intrest has until the end of the week to pay if they haven't already. If you got a spare £57 then go for it. Plus it means you don't need any templates etc, get two teams and some block dice by registering with the NAF and away you go

I'm a British Freebooter, will play for any team including Undead (I have my own Apothecary). Good rates.

Re: New pitch/field recommendations for Blood Bowl
Many thanks again for the replies guys.
In the end, after reading some of the comments in the other thread on the forum, and lots of good online reviews, I have gone for one of the FF fields. I managed to buy one from Spanish ebay, at a price cheaper than the one on the Comixininos site, even though it is from the same company(?!)
The undead field they sell will go really well I hope with a new team I have bought (a Necromantic team from an Italian company, called Greebo)
