Catch on a pro elf blitzer. What do you think?

Post by MaximumG »

Hi everyone, I am new to this site and this is my first post.

Anyway I was just curious if any one has tried putting catch on any of the elf blitzers(maybe 3rd of 4th skill) to possibly turn them into a blocker who can also catch as well(which is called a tight end in american football) as ag4 with no tackle zone and catch has a 97% success rate of catching a pass and with one tackle zone i believe it drops down to 88% success rate which is still pretty good.

Has anyone else actually tried this before as i believe it could help in taking the some of the defensive pressure off the catchers as if the defense does not mark the blitzers then you could just through the ball to them and then i possibly do a hand-off to a catcher or run with the blitzer as they have movement 7 which is faster than average.

Welcome to the site!

I suppose it would depend what your first couple of skills would be! Also depends on if you roll doubles etc.

I'm not the best at progression skills, so I'll let some wiser heads in that respect answer the actual question, but welcome to the board.

You've got 4 Catchers who already do the job very well. If you are looking at 3rd or 4th skill it would suggest the Catchers are also advanced and Block/Dodge is a popular choice for them. Adding Catch to the Blitzers seems a bit redundant in terms of the entire team.

However, as mentioned, it would more depend on the set up of the players in question as well as the rest of the team.

Pro elf has the best catchers in the game - and four of them. Taking catch on blitzers seems a waste to me.
As written above by lunchmoney, at this state in the game, your catchers will probably be blodgers already.

Why not just use a team reroll for that situation?
It shouldn't happen that often as mentioned before, because of the catchers.

In general catch is a skill I wouldn't give to no one but a stunty....

Elf blitzers are the Dei ex Machinae of their team. If you give them sub optimal skill the team suffers. Lots.

Except perhaps a little boost to the throwers, pro elf doesn't need any skills to improve their passing game. Use all the skills you get to improve your defense, because as a pro elf thats what youll be playing most of the time and thats where youll be winning your matches. All you players will do as reserve catchers or pass-handoffconnectors if the catchers zoned in, with the stats they start of with.

I would suggest skills like (guard), dodge, (might blow), tackle, diving tackle, jump up, shadowing, sure feet, dauntless, strip ball on blitzers before catch.

^This, Pro elves are one of the best teams at scoring, it is extremely hard to stop them with access to the 4 AG4, catch, NoS, MA8 players. The difficulty comes down to keeping enough of them on the pitch to stop the other team scoring in return.

Blitzers are real stars of the team and come with 2 great skills along with AV8 which is important. On normals I'd take dodge fist, then tackle if you are expecting to face a lot of dodging players or possibly Diving tackle as it's great with Sidestep. After that Strip Ball, Leap, Dauntless, Jump Up and Fend are all better on them.
if you roll doubles take either MB or Guard and +MA, +AG and +ST are great for them, on 5+5 I'd be tempted for the doubles.

Catch is one of those skills that is nice to have but usually there are better choices available, the possible exception is a stunty designed to be thrown.
