Star Player shirt numbers
Again, I'm asking for something, usually on web forums I'm offering help. I've done a few searches, and came up with various excellent resources for the Star Player cards, but they don't include the player number. Is there a list out there of the correct numbers. I've got quite a few cards here with them on, but wondered if there was a list out there. I understand that they don't change the game at all, but if I'm painting something up, or paying someone else to do it for me, then it would be nice to have the original numbers on the miniatures.

They don't have numbers - in theory they take which ever number the coach that hired them that week gives them.

For some of them, you could find their original numbers in the 2nd ed. books. Griff was #1 and Zug was #2, for instance. In fact, you could just leave the #1 slot open on your team, as that's what most of them that survived into the modern game (Hubris, Morg, Ramtut, Varag) were assigned. Exceptions include Eldril (#4) and Puggy (#10).
As Darkson has said, they'll usually be assigned to whichever roster slot is open, so it might be confusing if they're wearing a different number.

Thanks for that, looking at it more in depth I've got a few cards here, and sorting them out in order, it appears that the ones I have go up to 15. I assumed that for the same race, such as Dwarfies for instance, the individual Star Players would have different assigned numbers, but Flint Churnblade is the same as Pick Seamsunder amongst others. Assigning them as you say will be easier for a game, I just though it would be nice to have the numbers as they were in the original spiel as on the old Star Player cards.

Well, don't forget that in 2nd ed that most stars only played for a named team, apart from the few freebooters.

Star Player shirt numbers
Hmm, I never paint the numbers on them for above reasons and I've started to paint all star players in the red/white/blue/yellow scheme from the cards so they look like they're part of an all star / harlem globetrotters like team... And then I can criss cross them between teams if need be.

This is how I'm leaning these days. I particularly like what Willy Miniatures has been doing on some of their minis, which is to include a star modeled onto the figure. I'll be adding that to all the Star Player figs that I can from here on.Madsherman wrote:Hmm, I never paint the numbers on them for above reasons and I've started to paint all star players in the red/white/blue/yellow scheme from the cards so they look like they're part of an all star / harlem globetrotters like team... I do something similar, but I use the Naf red, black and white colours. How does the old saw go?
It was a cold winter night and I had bought tickets to see the fights. All of a sudden a hockey game broke out....

Re: Star Player shirt numbers
Personally I don't put numbers on star players.
The only time I'd consider breaking that rule is if I was painting Griff up in Reikland Reavers colours, Morg in Chaos All-stars colours and so on. This only works for Star players who've been around for a long time and who have very detailed histories / a lot of information about. Some of the newer star players don't have the names of their original teams, the colours those teams played in or the number they had noted down anywhere, making it an impossible task in some cases.
However, for some of the newer star players, good guesses can be made. For example, Brick Far'th is based off Brett Favre so making him no. 4 would be suitable and Glart Smashrip Jr. can be given the same number as his dear old dad (I'd have to look it up but I'm sure it's out there) would be appropriate too.
Don't forget to post pics of your star players in the miniatures section when you're done painting them!
