Skeleton or Zombie?

Post by feeder »

Like the title says. Is the MA5 and thick skull better than the AV8? What about a mix of the two? I am building an Undead team for next season with the 2 mummy, 2 Wight, 3 ghoul build.

I think zombies are the go to because you want then to act like weebles, knocked down and straight back up to generate tackle zones to keep your ghouls safe.
It's only one point of armour but its worth it, that small statistical likelihood keeping you unstunned is worth it over the movement to me.

What Abby said. I use predominantly zombies on my undead team. Build them all the same. Block -> Tackle -> fend ALWAYS take guard on a double and don't take any stat increase except +ST. They are speed bumps. Annoying speed bumps that you don't care if they die.

I like at least one skellie. I give it Dirty Player (and Sneaky Git if I get a double), and find the extra MA helpful for that.
That, and to my mind it's not a real Undead team without at least one Skellie (hell, I'd house-rule them onto Necro roster as well).

What is your league composition?
If you are going to face Clawpomb often then Skeletons are better than Zombies, especially as LOS fodder.
If you are going to face Mighty Blow, Piling On but not Claw then Zombies are better.
Personally I use Zombies at low-med TV then I start to buy some Skeletons (2-3) when I have to play vs Clawpomb-spamming teams.

I'd like a house rule saying that Zombies turn into Skeletons after X games or by rolling a dice, to represent flesh decaying and falling off. :D

I always run two skellies on an undead team as linebakers, behind my zombie line....

Skeletons are great. The extra MA can be extremely useful. I use a mix of Zombies and Skeletons, with the Skeletons used more on offence as they don't have to face the LoS. The guys on the LoS will never be using their MA as they will just be 'weebles' as described above. So AV8 is better here.

1 skeleton with Kick and Dirty player, that way once he's used kick you foul with him until he gets sent off

Zombie for the LoS, so much like everyone else a mix is probably best (I like 3 Zombies / 2 Skeletons)

What positionals don't you run then?

I prefer to have 2 Mummies, 2 Wights and 4 Ghouls, which only leaves room for 3 Zombies/Skeletons.

On my ideal Undead team I run with full positionals and 3 Zombies on the LOS on defence. On offence I swap one of the Zombies out for a Skeleton. I find that additional MV useful on offense and they tend not to take as many hits compared to when I'm playing defence, so the AV7 isn't as bad.

AV7 is actually and advantage I find. Many opponents see it and blitz the Skeleton every turn because of it, whereas if you just have Zombies they tend to blitz Wights instead. Losing a Skeleton is clearly much preferable, so another reason to have him. I've won many games by just running by Skeleton off on his own as bait so I can take advantage of the space created when my opponent chases after him. :D

Depending on the opposition in a league, a skeleton or 2 can be really useful. They can act as 'sweepers-light', add a tacklezone/assist,...

3 zombs/1-2 skellies. and they only add 4 to your TR, so it isnt that bad.

Either 3 Ghouls or 2 Rerolls.
