I'm really surprised GW legal hasn't come down hard on the Java Bowl app... not sure how it's survived this long!

If there is no profit involved, they won't get involved. It would actually be detrimental to GW to go after them. EVERYONE who plays at/knows of that site would be pissed, and we all know that 3/4 of the people there spent money at GW on occasion.

Also the rules are available for free download. If they were still selling the rulebook would they be so tolerant?

Where i play (on www.francebloodbowl.com) many players come to BB by playing javabowl and then they discover the board game!

I mainly meant the use of the trademarked Blood Bowl items - you can't setup a website that displays any GW images prominently or they close you down if you dont remove them, whether you are making money or not.

At the end of the day, the Java BB game is intellectual property theft, no denying it. It just seemed odd that when they crack down on other stuff that they let this go!

Yer on FUMBBL some of the players are buying teams painting them up and donating them as prizes for tournaments.

Depending on the locality, JavaBB and the PBEM client, can be considered fair use. They are simply enabeling owners of the board game to play it in a diffrent medium.

Discovering Java BB actually got me back into blood bowl after years of not even looking at it, i'm back into buying new teams paints etc, so it's good for GW.

Our local league around here only plays every-so-often, so I like JavaBB. I own a real BB box set and a team though, too. ;D

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.
