Hi, I'm Brett.

I'm 36 with a partner of 20 years (yes, you read that right) and a 5 year old son, all of whom live in Adelaide, South Australia (which is almost as far away from anything as I reckon you can be - move south and you hit Antarctica, move north and you hit a great big desert, west is the Nullarbor Plain - a vast, flat area of low scrub, and east is, well, we don't talk much about it). Despite the distance from the rest of the world, it is a great place to live, with a vibrant Blood Bowl community (for international reference, we're about 800km from Melbourne).

I have been playing Blood Bowl since Kerrunch, although I remember peering through the glass of a huge hobby store we used to have here called Tactics when I was too young to feel confident about being involved. They played 1st edition and I was fascinated. When Kerrunch came out I ordered a copy via Military Simulations and loved it, forming a small gaming group with friends at school who played for a few years.

In 1995 or 6, Games Workshop came to Adelaide. I was 19 and was not enjoying university, so I dropped out and worked for 4 years in GW. During my time there I had miniatures featured in our WD as painting was probably the strongest part of my repertoire of gaming skills. Obviously GW is an evil organisation, and they were (and probably still are) terrible to their staff. I told them to stuff it in 2000 and managed to score a job in a local Credit Union that ended up stretching to 11 years. During that time I went back to uni and completed a Bachelor of International Studies. I worked at all levels of the organisation.

Also during the early 00s I started a BB league called the Marienburg BB League. We played about five seasons before lapsing and, for probably six years, I didn't game or paint much at all.

In 2008 I stumbled across the growing BB community in Australia and met a guy named Speiroz who was trying to get a local tournament running. I was in and went to the first SSB, renewing my love of the game. I met others who have become core members of the Adelaide scene (Olaf, Vain, etc) and I won the Best Painted award, something I was (and are) incredibly proud of. This stimulated my effort to work on my painting again and basically drove me out of gaming hibernation. Eventually I was involved in the AusBowl State Championship and in the creation of BL!TZ Magazine, which survived for five glorious editions before becoming a side note in BB history. I was incredibly humbled when the Australian community awarded be the Most Valuable Coach for my work on BL!TZ and the State Championships in 2011.

In 2011 I decided that a career in banking and finance was boring and retrained as a teacher (along with my partner, while our son was a toddler - yes, I'm crazy). We moved to the southeast of SA, to a little town called Naracoorte (which is even further from anything related to civilisation), where I had neither a reliable internet connection, nor a gaming community. Luckily this lasted only a year before I returned to Adelaide.

I'm currently a secondary school teacher (English, History, Geography) and an avid BB player. The recent arrival of Meg Maples in Australia has revolutionised my painting and I am currently working on a Nippo Goblin team that is better than anything I have managed before. It should be fun to play at SSB2014. Other than that I'm looking forward to defending titles at the ADBC and in the CCKUP league this year (I need to highlight this as I'm not sure they're not just fluke).

This is me looming over the 24H Ironman Challenge trophy earlier this year.

My turn.

My name is Jeff. I am married with no kids. I'll be 45 in July and I love Blood Bowl.

I reside in Dunlop in Canberra, A.C.T. (that's the "Australian Capital Territory"), which is, contrary to what most people think, the capital city of Australia - not Sydney or Melbourne as many people from other countries seem to believe.

I've lived in Canberra all my life, apart from two years in Melbourne as a teen, and a couple of overseas trips.

I've worked in the Australian Public Service in some capacity since I was 17, as a permanent employee, temporary employee, and consultant in more recent years, working in a range of corporate services areas, such as finance, asset management, vehicles, and security assessing - if it's got something to do with keeping the organisation running, I've probably done it... Currently unemployed (and pretty much unemployable), due to ongoing issues with my back.

I started playing Blood Bowl with the second edition, and amassed quite a collection back in the day (having been identified as a completionist since and early age), but had to sell the lot, and a number of other classic games and miniatures due to financial difficulties caused by my ex-wife - something I still regret to this day.

I've played every edition of Blood Bowl since the second, including the various computer versions over the years, and have played in local leagues and tournaments for many years.

These days I am more or less restricted to playing online, so Cyanide's version of the game has been my second-best friend for a while now (and like all friends, you persist with them, despite how many faults they have... Lol).

I used to play a fair bit on FUMBBL, before the Cyanide game was released, and drop in there from time to time to keep up with what is happening. I always intend to go back and play more games there, but never seem to get around to it (probably because most of my online friends now play in private leagues in Cyanide's game...). Though one of my local friends has just decided to try it out, so I might get some games under my belt again soon.

If you want to know anything else, just ask... :D

Cheers,

Nestyr

The name's Ryan, and I've...ah who cares for the ol' cowboy talk.

My name is Ryan. I am a an experienced thirteen years old. I am the nerdiest a thirteen year old will get.

I discovered Blood Bowl in the 5th or 6th grade, I think sixth. My friend invited me to his house. I said sure, and he showed it to me. When I first laid eyes on it, i loved it. The board, figures, strategy, and yes, what we all love and hate about this game DICE! :D This was when 5th or sixth ed was out, but my friend's dad (who showed my friend and I the game) was stuck to 3rd ed. I am to still. We switched to sixth ed. when we joined a league. I get nostalgic about ol' 3rd ed.

I classify myself as a Blood Bowl addict at yes, thirteen. I adore the norse. The first team I started with and the reason for that was I thought it was impossible to lose with them and the figures were cool. I almost started with Wood Elves (whew, what a relief that is). I hate Slann and pretty much every team with the word ELF in it. Attended 4 tourneys so far (took 8th in one after going 2-0 to reach table 2. Chaos, my weakness, knocked me down to eight.)

You want more info, just ask. :o

Welcome Ryan, the game needs more young guys - I hope playing Norse won't sour you on Blood Bowl ;)

Norse don't sour me on Blood Bowl. I just bash. Orcs, Chaos, Norse, but I don't go down the dwarven path. Thank you though for the warm welcome.

Whutupshun!

I'm Jonny P and I've been playing Blood Bowl since 1993. I can recall walking my home made ice field down the street while the other kids my age at that time were just getting their drivers license and drove by with obvious jealousy as I walked to my friend's house to battle our Dwarves and Elves in 2nd edition.

1996-2003 and I was the commish of the OWFuL league using 3rd edition with tons of house rules (Bloodthirster on pitch!). Now my brother runs that league and still one of the longest running leagues in the USA!

In 2004 I stopped running leagues to focus on tournament play starting with Chaos Cup 2004. I made so many new friends from all around the world because of this game that causes me so much misery for 16 turns at a time.

In 2006 I moved from the Chicago area to Michigan for a year and resurrected the Underworld Cup, which has now been passed on to several TO's since.

In 2007 I went to my first Zlurpee Bowl and saw what would become the most well known and consistent tournament in the USA.

In 2008 I created the Stupor Bowl with a 85 Chicago Bears theme, which now Valdric has not only taken over but taking up several notches.

In 2009 I started the Zlurpcast Blood Bowl podcast with my best bud Xtreme.

In 2011 I took over running the Chaos Cup and created the heavy metal themed tournament, Headbangers Ball.

In 2012 I became the 3rd American to be a part of the "24 Club", getting an NAF ranking with all 24 races.

Also in 2012 I am proud to say we had 80 coaches attend Chaos Cup making it the highest attendance of all time in North America.

2013... I'm burnt out! haha. I still love the game, the tournaments, and my friends, but I'm trying to take it easier with what responsibilities I sign up for.

2014... I've never flown to play Blood Bowl and doing that for the first time in March for Orclahoma Bowl.

My goal is to get to another country for a large tournament and/or the World Cup!

Ok then...

Im Shaniepoo (Shane), a 33 year old Assistant Practitioner and judo coach from Lancaster.

Ive been playing Bloodbowl for around 10years and hold the title of most prolific Rotters coach at over 70 games! Im also the holder of 7 wooden spoons. Im most well known in Bloodbowl for my antivs antics at the 1st Flamebowl when i was paid to do a 'party boy' for Pippy and became the sexyest coach in the 'Pippys Booty Batterers' team, and at the Thrudbowl when i got waxed and streaked round Bogna.

Hey - I thought I would chime in on this thread. My name is Michael Becker and I am a 40 yr old who currently lives in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

I first stumbled on 2nd edition Blood Bowl around 1992. I was partipating in a tennis tournament (Alberta Summer Games) in a small town called Lethbridge. I already had a substantial game collection (RPG's, and board games) so I ventured into a store called The Treasure Chest. After browsing the shelves I noticed a game called Blood Bowl. It looked hilarious so I bought it.

Soon after I got my hands on the two supplemental Hardcover playbooks. A few weeks later a few of my friends and I began our first mini-league. 2nd edition was fun but after a few hours not much had really happened. It always seemed their was a pile up of players near center field. My favourite team were the Werewolves. I loved how they fell onto the pitch for two turns and evolved.

We continued to play occasionally until we caught the Magic: the Gathering bug and then I started playing Warhammer Fantasy heavily (mostly with the amazing third edition rules).

Eventually third edition Blood Bowl was released. At that point I had renewed my White Dwarf subsrcription so snagged a copy of it. Change is sometimes hard to embrace. But after reading Jervis J's comments on why the changes were made I fell in love.

I ran two leagues for third edition in my hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta. We peaked around 40 players for a short period. Both years were won by Humans thanks to the impressive Griff Oberwald.

I moved to a different province in the fall of 96. My successfull game club disintegrated. I quickly found new games and new friends (mostly Euro's - like Settlers and El Grande) that year.

After a lenghy hiatus I decided to start playing Blood Bowl again. I very much enjoy the hard work that went into the current LRB 6.0. I was adverse to the inducement system at first and I still have a love for the third edition Death Zone supplement. But I have come to realize ithe system we have today is brilliant.

The thing I miss most about the old 2nd edition system is the mixed teams. I understand why things are the way they are but nostalgia waxes at times.

I am not sure where Blood Bowl is headed now that GW has pretty much discontinued the line. But I know sites such as this will help us continue to enjoy the game we love.

Currently I am commissioner of the Regina Flatalnd Blood Bowl League (RFBBL). We are in our second season. And it has beeen nothing short of a riot. Some of the bulletins from our coaches are nothing shy of brilliant.

Check out our antics at http://www.reginaflatland.bloodbowlleague.com

You can also view my game profile at boardgamegeek.com. My user name is Michael Becker. Finally, I have recently created a game about the history of Western Canada and the NW United States circa 1873 - 1890. It is called Whiskey Traders. I am hoping it will find a publsiher at some point soon.

Cheers,
Michael

Regina, eh? Doesn't it get a little confusing when you play in your BB league with everyone painting their teams green and white?
