From my neck of the woods it's just Fern and I. I'd be ok with a move but I'll ask Fern to make sure "we" dont have any plans for that day.

I'm contacting the other venue to see what the situation is, I'll keep the thread updated.

I can do the week before, but I think considering I'm a lot closer to the venue than the travelling coaches I think their needs are more important.

OK panic averted, we are going to do the same weekend 5th April BUT the venue will now be the Old Duke in the city center, BS1 4ER.

Main changes are:

No free parking close :(
Closer to train station :)
Can't provide lunch in ticket :(
I'll get some donuts and snacks :)
We'll have to have a limit on players :-?

I'll get the rule pack updated and reposted

Sorry for mucking people around.

D

What's with all these venues and double-booking? That's 3 (or 4?) BB tournaments in the last 12 months that I can recall. :?:

In our case pretty boring; venue is a church hall (Church I go to), I checked the weekend in question got a verbal OK, put paperwork in and got written confirmation which was given on the basis of the original check being fine, when our event was subsequently put in the main register of events in it was found a large Church event had been moved back from the week before sometime. Just one of those things - it shouldn't really happen but we all make mistakes so I understand.

I've checked with Fern and we were ok to move date, but that's no longer a problem.

Lack of free parking is bum though ;)

Yep, it's was orginally one of the things high on my list of priorities and that the orginal venue had lots of.

Apparently there is some free/cheap parking to the south of the city centre but its 10/15mins walk from the venue, I'll do some investigating of best options, my office the city center has a few parking spaces which may be available on a Saturday.

I still hope to be there . . . . just need to figure out the public transport.

Looked on the map and I can't see a nearby train station. Is Temple Meads going to be a hideous taxi ride away?

What's that - the 'almost but not quite' award?
The Glowworm award is mostly a SW thing - Simon "Glowworm" Bond kept coming 4th in tournaments, and so implemented a new award for that position, and it's caught on a bit. One of the tournaments in the US had one as well, so it became international. :D

That's my understanding anyway!

Hudson and I, completely independently, decided to do 4th place "Glowworm" award for our (iirc) 2011 tourneys (Cakebowl and Exiles Open). Glowworm thought we had colluded, but both of us were completely unaware the other had done it until Glowworm told us.
We did it in response to Glowworm moaning about coming 4th a lot and not getting any recognition for it. Since the creation he hasn’t come 4th at any event that has implemented the award. 'cos life’s like that ;)
