I would not have thought that Wrestle would work for the Cultists, since you might loose an assist in crucial situations. But the option to free up space does sound pretty nice. I startet another team in a new league and might try it out there.
Would you still go for Guard on a player that has Wrestle?

In my experience so far, it is very important for Khorne to have more players on the pitch than your opponent. If I have less, then the game is most likely over. Might be that in my case, its because I did not have a lot of guard yet (luckily thats slowly changing).

I also would like to repeat my earlier asked question. What would you guys recommend for my Bloodletter (Block) who rolled a 10?

MA7 on an MA6 team is really useful.

Move is better then armor IMO.
A double is pretty useless on a BL (you have PF for passing skills).

I would be inclined to the move normally, but Guard is still a consideration IMO depending on the state of the rest of the roster on that skill. Bloodletters can survive long term pretty well being able to blodge, regen and use an apoth so the armor is less appealing to me.

I am still undecided on Guard vs. Wrestle. Perhaps I might take Guard then Wrestle (or Wrestle then Guard) on the Pit Fighters. This unlikely combination worked very well on my Slann team last year. Although it is only 1 game, I found Wrestle absolutely superb on a Pit Fighter, I can't imagine a better first normal skill on them. Now that I have 3 Wrestlers, I will find out fast just how good (or bad) the skill is.

I agree that Khorne become compromised once their numbers fall (say) 2 below those of their opponents. That is one reason I am going to try playing with a Bloodthirster.

I would be inclined to take +MA on the Bloodletter. For a short time I had a +MA Bloodletter, he was outstanding as a Runner. If this is early in your team development, I would suggest +MA followed by Sure Hands, Dodge, Kick-off Return, for a "complete" Runner. You still need a Thrower IMO, for those 2 and 3 turn scores.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input.
I think I might try going for Wrestle on the Cultists with my team in the new league (after Leader and SureHands). I went without the BT for the Startlineup there. Not sure if I will try to play without him completely though.

I would not say that it is early in my team development. I've played 23 matches now I think and my TV is at 191 + whatever I give the Bloodletter. The ball often ends up in the Hand of a Bloodletter, but usually I usw a Cultist for picking up the ball (especially since I now have one with AGI4 and lost my SureHands Cultist).
Taking the +MA just seems to slow down the development for this player I think. I need more guard in the team (only 3 so far 1xCultist 2xBloodletter). Thats also why I thought about skipping Dodge on him and going directly for Guard. I really dont know if the +MA is worth the delay in development.

I could go for a Thrower on the AGI4 one. He has Block so far. I thought about giving him SureHands first though. I think it will be a few matches, before I have to decide what to give him. I throw less and less now, but sometimes it is still very useful.

An off the wall idea - I wonder if anyone has tried Strip Ball on a Herald? Not sure I will try it myself, but the combo Frenzy/Horns/Jugs/S-Ball is about as good a Stripper as you can get.

All the best.

Take the move. Although, I think Khorne is one of the only teams that you really really need to consider not taking it. But, a 7 moving Herald is just damn nice on a team of all 6 movers. He will get his next skill more quickly because you will start to rely on him more.

On the Wrestle front, I try to split the pitfighters between wrestle and block. They are so much better with either skill. Wrestle comes in so handy so many times, especially paired with Frenzy, that the players is almost done once he gets it.

Strip ball would be great on a Herald, Smeborg, but I haven't tried it because all the leagues I have used Khorne in seem to have a surplus of sure hands. Still have dreams of getting one of my 4 ag Heralds leap and strip ball though. They just need to live a bit longer.

The Heralds seem to be the shortest lived of all the Khorne players. They get targetted, are often in the thick of it, and are not good at staying out of contact. The Bloodletters can die, too, but Regen, while always a lottery, seems to keep them alive better than the 1 Apoth for all the non-Regen players.

I almost did it a few months ago, but the tie-breaker made me the runner-up. :(
I'm now leaving my online league (DeathBB) DOK team after 3 seasons (and 2 consecutive finals lost at overtime).

I think DOK are a fabulous at teaching you to develop your attack and defense skill and to make your tactics on the spot.

On the tactics I must say that IMO the DOK are "The Bloodthirster and his merry men".

Sorry Rolex, you are not the first one.

It was andrea-parrella that won, not me.
Mine was a previous tied first place (2nd at tiebreaker).
And mine was on october the 28th 2012.
So in my little way, I was first. :D

I suggest the Khorne team will prove to be significantly better in tournaments than in leagues. The weaknesses in the starting roster are more easily overcome in most tourney formats.

All the best.

Hi guys,

I did end up skipping the +MA and went for Guard on the Bloodletter. Not sure if it was the best choice but I will see in the long run how it turns out.

If I chose to give StripBall to a player I think I would rather give it to a Bloodletter, than a Herald. It is easier to keep them out of contact so you dont have to dodge for an important Blitz and you can also get Dodge on them for the occasion where you have to before blitzing. So far StripBall is not part of my plan for the team, and I think that will not change for a while :)

I had another match with my team last week. Again against Norse. For his Inducements he chose a Loner Runner, a Wizard and a Bribe. I won 1:0 (5:1 in CAS). The biggest problem on his team is really his BigGuy. He got 2 doubles on it and went for Block, Dodge. It was not easy getting that thing off the pitch :D
I was able to keep the upper hand throughout the match. I send a few of his players off the pitch and had more Guard than him. I was able to score in turn 6. Unfortunately in turn 3 he injured my Herald with Block, MB, Tackle (-1AGI). The apoth would have given him -1MA instead, but I chose to stick with the -1AGI. I think it was the better choice and I plan on keeping him.
He received in the 2nd half but I was able to stop his offensive pretty good until one fateful turn :D First block of the turn Doubleskull, RR, Doubleskull. That turn nearly cost me the win, but in the end I still managed to stop him.

My BT finally inflicted another CAS and is at 16SPP now. When I started the team, I was planning on going for BreakTackle after MB, but now I think I prefer Guard. I don't rely on the BT for blitzing, so BreackTackle is not as important in my opinion. He seldom gets isolated, which is why I feel that I would benefit from Guard a lot more.
What do you guys think?

Next up is a Skaven team, that again gets a lot of Inducements against me. He will most likely field Headsplitter (He did it the last time we played). I am a little concernded that I can only field one player with tackle against him (a Cultist), since my Herald is missing for this match. That might become a problem when I need to stop his Gutterrunners. Hopefully Frenzy will help with that, but I will have to wait and see. I often struggle against fast teams so despite the difference in TV this should be a tough match. How do you guys handle fast teams Skaven or Elves? After Skaven I have to play Woodelves and Highelves.

This season has been going really well for me so far (after the first 2 matches) and I hope I can keep it up. At the moment I am in 2nd place. First are the WoodElves (23points), me (22points) 3rd is Undead (20points) and 4th Highelves (19points). After that there is a bigger gap.
So I still have to play 1st and 4th place. The first 2 advance to a higher league (I am in the lowest atm) and some of the teams in the 3rd place as well. Hopefully I will make it this season. In the last 2 seasons I played in the league I always missed it by a hair.

Hopefully you can give me some advice against the fast teams :)

Bye,
Nephron

Nice job! Keep it up!

As for Guard on the BT over Break Tackle, I like it, and I tend to stick guard on before break tackle on mine as well. Honestly, on this team (as most teams I suppose) Guard is pretty much never a bad (or the wrong) pick.

I would also keep the Herald, in fact, I had a very similar thing happen to one of mine and he wasn't nearly as developed as yours. You have enough AG 3 around that he shouldn't need to be a ball carrying threat, and I doubt you tend to dodge much with him. You will miss it occasionally, but not as much as you will miss his Block, MB, and Tackle if you drop him and pick up a rookie.

As for fast teams, ugh, I just do the 2-1 grind as best I can and hope for some 1s. Wish I had some actual advice for you on it. Khorne just have such a non linear and chaotic style of play that the positioning that is normally the best defense just falls apart once contact is initiated. Which is actually part of the fun of the team for me.

I think Guard is a good option as second normal skill on the Bloodthirster, and this is my current plan.

I also plan to give Guard to the Heralds as second normal skill. This team needs Guard.

However, following some league experience, I do not plan to give the Pit Fighters Guard as first skill (should they roll a double). I found such a player rather weak, and something of a liability (the problem was solved when he died). Hence the need for early Guard on the positional players.

Hope that helps.
