Yes they did. They had a quiet word with offenders and the mature ones stopped.

Just FWIW -
To my knowledge we have permabanned three users in the 12 years or so this place has been running (one of those multiple times. vets will know who THAT was.)
One more sort of jumped before being pushed. Or something. He may even still lurk.

Round of applause for Tom!

So much hostile negativity, and the moderators do nothing about it - what is this world coming to, right? If its any consolation, I support your right to speak your mind ;)

Banning is primarily symbolic - all you can target for a ban is a username and/or an IP address, either of which can be changed in under a minute. Certainly one of the people you mentioned on Impact's forums was still posting when I got here, under a different name... that he had been "banned" explains why one of your fellow mods wouldn't let me "out" them in any of my postings.

Too many chiefs, eh?

That person wasn't, and isn't, banned. His account, if he ever wanted it, will be re-activated.

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

Yeah. That individual has a complicated relationship with this forum and many people in the community. Seeing as he's been around since before this forum even existed I'm prepared to cut him some slack, much as I'm still pissed at him for our last interaction. That's not relevant.

The other three - one wasn't here long and hasn't been seen on Fumbbl, which was where he mainly hung out, for two years. One we'd damn well know if he was still here (considering we had to kick at least three different nicknames) and the last...well...he MIGHT be able to go incognito, but from everything I've heard about him I doubt we wouldn't have identified any aliases unless he's changed VERY significantly. Thinking about it, there may be a fourth but I didn't see him on the ban list and the same applies to him.

I see. What exactly "deactivates" an account, and how is a deactivated account different from a ban? Honest question! That said, I still don't quite follow why you so forcefully protected his identity. I had never heard of the guy at the time, I just had a hunch it was someone's duplicate account for mouthing off, so text fingerprinted it and (correctly, given your reaction) found the match and outed him. Doesn't matter either way... I kind'v like the guy now, even though any interaction we have is abusive. I think he's spunky.

I know... since there's a hard limit of 2 active threads at any given time it must be very difficult to discuss those things without bumping into me on one of the two of them. I'd point you in the direction of the foes list, but we both know you're not interested in using it, right? Some folks just go looking for something to get indignant about ;)

You can go into your control panel and create a foe list. Those people's post should then NOT appear for you. It's the opposite of a friend list, which you can create and get shown when your friends post.

If you would like to never again see anyone on TFF's posts ... its pretty easy to do.

Click on User Control Panel at the top of the screen (just under the right end of the TalkFantasyFootball.org banner)

On the left of the screen you'll find:
Friends & Foes»

Click on that and then click on
» Manage foes

Then add the username of the person and you'll never see their posts ever again.
