Buyer Beware - Another Recaster?

Post by Borthcollective »

Looking through ebay for Blood Bowl gems this morning and stumbled upon some listings from this guy.
How grainy and shiny the metal are along with voids in the model, flash, and general lack of detail on the model make these auctions suspect as does the amount of "rare" "unreleased" "oop" models he has to sell.

He just recently sold an "unreleased" mordheim model, that went for over $350 (!). And that's not the first time I've seen him list that same model.

Sometimes they actually are “unreleased”, but look very similar to an existing model. The sculptor likely used the same model and then changed it a bit for the final version.

I’m always astounded how much some pay for certain genuine models just because they are rare, many of them are terrible sculpts. These do look like recasts to me though.

Wow, there are some seriously crazy people out there. They have bought a squat model for £640; even I wouldn't do that, and I've paid some crazy prices during the years

Was it one of the 2nd edition Squats?

I know GW had a handful of those created and then abandoned them. The revamped exo-armour guy was on e-bay a few years ago and went for a lot of money.

It’s a shame as those models were pretty nice for their time. Considering how much Orks changed from rouge trader to 3rd edition in both stats and fluff they could have easily done the same for my beloved space dwarfs, :(
