A month since my varnish disaster, and having "fixed" (repainted) the offending miniatures I can confirm that the GW spray sealant doesn't melt paint in the same way. I'll be using that from now on, then :)

Image

I've added a few minis since the last update; a Neomics Troll, as well as an Ogre and Minotard, both from Heresy. All three are rather lovely miniatures. Here's a closeup of the troll.

Image

Two more models have arraved and are in progress of getting painted up to join the boys too - an Impact Rat Safety and an apoth, again from Heresy.

Image

All in all I'll have used models and parts from Heresy, Mantic, Neomics, GW, Impact and Maxmini in this team, with some Reaper figs on the way to finish off the sideline staff... Yowsers. A costly team indeed!

I've also revisited my Slann team, the Croakland Waders, since my last post, with the wonderful Casandora Yellow getting a full outing.

Image

The parts for the rest of the team (all except Blitzers) will be arriving in the next month or so, and I'm really excited about this project. That said, I really need to start finishing things before starting on new stuff.

Case in point:

Image

New models arrived from Impact these week, including the plastic/resin Sarcos (above). I must say, the detail on these guys is amazing. A few models are missing toes, or the tips of their tails, but when you can pick up 17 - seventeen! - hugely detailed miniatures for $35, the odd missing toe is something I can live with (on the figure, of course. Not my own).

Here are the new recruits with the rest of the squad - I need to get greenstuffing on the others before they get a coat of paint, but I couldn't resist starting on the five pictured.

Image

Hope you like! Feedback appreciated - I feel like I'm improving all the time through practice, but if you've seen something that I can do to improve, please point it out.

Thank you!

Further to some very valid points raised by a poster over on ausbowl re: the troll standing out rather too much, I reckon I'll revisit my Pact team as a whole once the season's over to see if I can tie the scheme together a little more - the troll is apparently also in agreement that his paint job isn't suitable and has taken to lying face down a lot (even sitting a game out) of late, resulting in a small chip to his face... nothing major, but I won't patch it up until the season's end given my shared concern at his scheme.

In the meantime, some new minis have arrived to go with the [disappointingly much larger] slann/tau sideline staff above. Ladies and Gentlemen; the Croakland Waders.

L-R, 4 x Catcher, 8 x Lineman

Obviously a lot to go in terms of highlighting and touching up areas where the washes have splashed, as well as basing and making the gems look like gems, but I'm happy with the way they're headed and thought I'd share them here with you guys! I've popped them on hex bases to allow their use in both Blood Bowl or in Dreadball (as Judwan, the race the models are made to represent).

BTW - I'm looking to move my red and yellow Dwarf team, as well as my Undead team the Gnarl'em Globetrotters, to a new home or homes. If you're interested, please let me know - all genuine offers considered. Pics of them based and as a team can be found here: http://talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopi ... =7&t=38281

Thanks for looking!

Really nice teams. The Sarcos look great and the Slann/tau team look pretty good too, I really like their colour scheme.

Someone asked on the DB community page on FB about using DB models in BB today, and I mentioned (and pic-linked) your dwarfs.

Darkson - thanks for getting in touch! Were they well enough received? I've not done any more of them recently, but will finish them up at some point.

Thanks man! Very kind of you. Unfortunately I wasn't all that taken with the final look of the Pact team, so over Christmas I stripped them right back to bare metal, bought some new figs and converted up a brand new elf. Here's the second line of WIP for this team... still a long way to go! My aim is to have them ready for Auckland's Greenstone Cup (GSC) in September.

Sorry John - those went in February (at a local tournament). I've also disposed of the slann too, as I wasn't quite taken with the scale of the dreadball minis; altogether too small, unfortunately. I've high hopes for the greendog thalassians though, ordered in the Impact Kickstarter!

Also, to tie up a hitherto loose end; I finished my Reptile Dysfunction lizardman team on the eve of last year's GSC and they did me proud, delivering a respectable 3/1/2 record against a whole load of really cracking opponents (I think I finished 5th out of 20+ coaches). A particular highlight was conceding only three casualties throughout the tournament - only one of which was a skink!

Another quick update. I converted up a skaven team - the Rabid Bucharats - for Christchurch's "Mainland Bowl" (MLB) last year, walking away with fourth (missing third on TD diff), best painted and "People's Hero" for my converted Hero miniature "Vektor Rokitic". Hope you like!

I've also dusted off a really old converted team and given them a new lick of paint for our current WBBL league season (some way to go yet, primarily the black armour... at the moment the bits that look shiny need several more layers of dark greys added). Here's how they looked in 2009...!: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=27575

And here's how they look today...

Light colours on Dark Elves! It looks great.

I've got the old Ulthuan/Dark Renegades colour scheme on mine.

Still love the pact. Like the pink you've achieved! :orc:

Great conversion work on the Rats and Delfs (even if some of the miniatures aren't to my tastes*).

Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing more in the future!

*Don't like the ghoul gutter runners. Just a personal taste thing. They're still wonderfully modelled and painted.

Thanks guys! Glad you like them, means a lot :)

This weekend I started working on painting up my Norse team, the Norvard Exiles. I shouldn't be doing this team yet - they're not even the team i plan to play next season - but I just couldn't wait. I'm going to try to resist doing any more until my Chaos Pact and Dark Elves are at least completed to the point of basing...!

Here's the Snow Troll with the beginnings of a paint job...

Image

Plus about the same amount of progress on a lineman, a blitzer/berserker and the team's thrower.

Image

I've also done a pretty rough job of knocking together some Ulfwereners. Truth told I'm not a big fan of the positional in general, but for the sake of completeness I wanted to make sure I had some figures that looked appropriately ST4. They're still early days but will eventually end up in the same blue skin/white hair scheme as the troll.

Lovely job on your troll, fantastic converting job and nice paint.

Would you mind sharing the repice of your Pact's pink colour? It's perfect for a project I'm working on.

Thanks so much, and keep working :)
