Yeah, that will be a busy day.

There'd better be a beer or 2 afterwards..! :)
BBQ would be fine too, I'd like that.

There will certainly be beers afterwards, but no BBQ. We are going into Amersfoort for a bite, everybody's welcome to join us.
After that, most certainly... more beers, and playing games at the venue.

may well have had something to do with your choice of team :D

I also had a great weekend that was topped off by winning a very unexpected first NAF title .. things can only go downward no but I'll cherish the moment.

Short roundup of the weekend:
I played woodies, 2 WD, 4 Catchers, 4 Lino's and a tree, 2 RR .. my aim was to put pressure on my opponent as soon as possible and as you'll read later it worked quite well, especially agaisnt the slower teams I encountered.

First game:
Against Wosret (Wilger) with his Khemri on table 11 (last table)
He choose to recieve first but I was 2-0 up in no time, even outhitting him for a while. Two more TD's in the second half rounded it up to 4-0. He was rather unlucky with his ballhandling but that's just where the woodies come in and crack you up.

4-0, 2-3

Got guard on the tree and strip ball on a WD

Second Game
Against JJ with his CD's.
Now I need to say I don't really like to play against CD's but they served me well this weekend. I kicked a CD off the game quite quickly and, again, led 2-0 at halftime. What followed was a very tense second half with a tree that hardly managed to stay on it's feet, me not being able to score the third TD in several occasions and some rather unfortunate dice by JJ. Finally he did manage a TD but it was too late.

2-1, 1-3

Got tackle on the Strip ball WD and block on a catcher

Third game
Against long-time adversary Grotemuis and his .. CD's.
We were the only players that had won our first two games, quite surprising actually. He had a different lineup but similar luck with picking up the ball as JJ had and again I was 2-0 up at halftime. The second half proved to be an even more tense event than the second game with Geerten failing a TD when he was several players ahead of me by failing a GFI. Again I failed to score the third on several occasions.

2-0, 0-3

Got leader on a lino and sidestep on a catcher

Fourth game
Another old opponent, sirsebstar, Dark Elves for a change.
I got him under presure from the very first moment and he could never really get away from it. The fact that I managed to get a few more players off than he did helped a lot, as did his KO not returning in 7 attempts. Another win, 4-2 this time, and I was firmly in the lead to start the sunday.

4-2, 2-1

Got kick on a lino and wrestle on the second WD

Went into the fifth game with a rather large lead over the opposition, most of whom I had already played against. JJ, Geerten and a few more were chasing and Philippe with his CD's was fourth and therefore my opponent.

He did fail some of hte important stuff early on and I was, again, 2-0 up at halftime, bringing it towards 3-0 quickly in the second. A good fight followed and where Philippe took chances to get to a draw we finished at 4-2. The fact that I got two CD's out helped me a lot. A very enjoyable game over all, noce opponent who was just tha tlittle bit unlucky when it counted.

4-2, 2-3

Got block on the leader lino and block on a catcher

Sixt game against Kane, one of the two Germans. A win would secure tournament victory one game early.
A nice guy with Dark Elves and a very, very unlucky 5th turn in the second half. The score was 1-1 at that point, with me not leading after the first half for the first time this weekend. I got back to 1-1 early in the second half and then put a lot of pressure on him, knowing that a draw might bring me enough to win the tournament. All of a sudden there was a chance. I forced him into a GFI for a TD, he fell, ball went out, and out and right between two of my catchers. One picked up the ball, handed off to the other who ran away with it. As I was quite a few man down I couldn't wait a turn so I scored with two more turns to go for me, three for him.

He got the ball but made a little mistake while caging up. I could dodge in, blitzed him down with my SB WD and a catcher ran in to punt the ball upfield where another catcher was already lurking to run off with it next turn. He got him down though and I miscounted my steps (thought a catcher could move 6 after standing up instead of 5) so I couldn't score the 3-1. He had to do a desperate pass for the score and failed. I won!

2-1, 0-2

Dodge on the kicker and sidestep on a block catcher

Last game was against DaGreat MC
Mats is a great coach and brought his high elves with him. I expected to have a bit of a chance but he left me none. Forcing me into desperate moves quickly in my turns and as I wasn't as sharp as earlier in the weekend I didn't execute them well. He ran off with the ball, twice and where the halfway score was 1-1, I was unable to create anything more the second, losing 1-3. Not being able to break his AV7 on quite a few occasions didn't help either, first AV break was a thrown rock early in the second half.

1-3, 1-0

As I said, a great weekend topped off by winning. The kids are examining the prize I got as I speak and a great thank you for Jelmer and Peter who pulled off another good tournament!
