I disagree Stan. I broke Bren's winning streak by holding him to a 1-1 draw, and I came third from last.

What we need to do is ensure Bren doesn't fix the draw again. Playing Team CACK twice to chump-bash his way to 6 wins was rude, but did bite him on the arse !)

Pip. MBT has been a great success and flame owl is super awesome. Lets keep it as a team event? I'm sure there is room in the Callander for 2 team events?

I may have fixed round 1, but Nippy is responsible for the second time we played CACK!! ;-)

Hello Stick - more than happy to have a debate about this. It's not set in stone. I have something new in mind for the individual event which I think people will like but if the masses want more TRIBES then I won't fly in the face of public opinion! :)

Who could not love Flame Owl? He's an inspiration to us all.

Great weekend in the pool as always. Loved my six games, loved playing undead with ZtS, it was all rather wonderful.

I too would like to see tribes continue, but if pip has something even juicier planned then I'm game for that too...

Did anyone happen to pick up a cardboard box with a chaos dwarf team inside by any chance? ItV doesn't seem to have made it home with me.

I'm a bit of two minds on this, actually. I did very much enjoy the team aspect (or TRIBES aspect, if you employ caps lock) again this year. But I don’t know if it’s a keeper for evermore. We are at 3 domestic team events currently (3.1 I suppose, if you count pairs in some form, and I am assuming there that Mark runs the rather excellent FB again), and I wonder how long it will take to go from a really special, rare treat to an aspect of the status quo. It’s like tiered rules, I almost pine for 1.1, a skill a game. Actually, I really do, now I’ve written it.

If you have a cool new idea, Bren, then I say go for it. You could always alternate / go back. Perhaps whatever is up your sleeve is better, and we'll not know until we try!

It'll be interesting to see what Bren has planned for next year. Maybe we can see what this new idea is and then take it from there. If people still want more TRIBES joy after the magic is revealed then we can open it up to some hardcore debate?

OK... I had somehow envisaged a glorious unveiling of my shock new MB rules tweak, but under minimal pressure I can't help but spill the beans... ;-)

Summarised as follows:
-Roster building exactly as MB VIII
-Swiss, no final, 2/1/0 points scoring
-tiebreak TBC, possibly strength of schedule
-Each coach will use 2 rosters (each one a different race)
-Coaches will play three games with each race
-After the round draw, coaches will determine which race they use as follows, using race cards provided at the start of the tourney (as per the cards tribes captains will be familiar with): each coach makes his choice of race in secret and places the corresponding card face down on the table; the cards are then revealed to produce the match
-Because each race must be used three times, in round six there will be no choice (though the choice could be taken away earlier, depending on how soon one race makes its third appearance)
-Coaches will have exchanged rosters prior to making their choice, and will also know which races their opponent has used in previous rounds
-Organisationally, with two rosters and info about which race was used when, I'll likely create a special roster card for all coaches to use. It will have space to record both rosters and the race choices made each round.

Looks complicated, but I hope you'll like it.

NAF rankings-wise, you'll all be listed as 'Multiple Races' under a single tournament. Clicking on the tournament in the list will show the different race choices each round. Schmee's entry for Monkeybowl VIII is an example of how this works (he used multiple races when playing two games at once).

Thoughts?
