NABBO League: Tea Cup '12 Dice & Dugout!

Post by Axtklinge »

Hi everyone!

As some of you might remember "NABBO League" (our local BB league), had his first tournament in 2011 to mark it's 10th League (in about 10 years of existence). You may check it here:viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35823&hilit=nabbo+league+tea+cup.
Everyone really loved the event (and the completely different feeling of having a full day of blood bowl instead of just one game in the 'weekly game night'), therefore we decided to try yet another one.

Image

Despite quite a few major setbacks which forced us to several postponing, we've still manage to do it and thankfully everything turned out fine, within an very friendly environment, with lots of fun and tons of blood bowl as it should!
You can have a peek at this Merry Mayhem News blog post for some more details and a few pics of the event: http://bloodbowlmayhem.blogspot.pt/2013 ... -2012.html

Since we all love "fluff" in the league, it couldn't just be 'another' tournament so we've kinda picked up the 2012 Mayan "End of the World" thing, mixed it with with a bit of "Lovecraft Cthulhu" stuff and end up with a themed dugout and dice, where two factions (read teams), would face each other on the pitch, fighting for something far greater than the result it self: the fate of human kind (orc kind, elf kind, oh well, "all kind" I suppose)!
Despite suspecting the coaches were far more concerned with the result of the game, than the 'fate of the planet' (doesn't that sound like old news?), everyone played along just fine, taking the best out of the rules to try to overcome his opponent, and end the day with more wins than everyone else! Again you can read some more details on this in the link above.

With the tournament over and all the dust settled, we still have a few dugout and dice left (that may eventually help out to cover the production bills of the whole thing).

On to the "Technical stuff"...

The DICE
Made by Chessex - therefore top manufacturing-, are engraved with the below logo (instead of the "1" pip), and are simply gorgeous. Both greens and orange are super easy to read, so can be easily used in regular play if you wish so (as opposed to 'collection only').

These are the orange ones (the mini is not for sale):

Here are the green ones (as before, the mini is not for sale):

The DUGOUT

It has both Weather and Kick-Off tables, Fame, Score, and Scatter template printed on it.
As it is laminated (with plastic sheet), it should stand the abuse of BB playing for many years without any problems.
It's about the size of a "A4" sheet (a bit smaller), but it does its job perfectly size wise (as you can check from the image with the minis below - again the minis are for scale and NOT for sale).
Actually, the size kinda is a plus if you happen to need to carry it either to tournaments or to play in your league .
(Just as side note, despite looking a bit blurry in the picture, the quality of the dugout printing is very nice indeed, sharp and with good colour contrast! Similar in quality of the NTC '11 ones, those who have them might be able to attest for it).

Image

So, these are the 'packs' and prices for them (shipping included):
Pack Dugout+2 - Dugout + 2 dice (either orange or green) 11€, (SOLD OUT)
Pack Dugout+4 - Dugout + 4 dice (2 orange and 2 green) 15€, (SOLD OUT)
Pack Dice 2 - 2 dice (either orange or green) 9€, (SOLD OUT)
Pack Dice 4 - 4 dice (2 orange and 2 green) 13€. (SOLD OUT)

As usual (and kinda of the only downside of this), is that we only have a (very short) few packs left and since the dice are a very limited run, after they’re gone, that’s it. Both them and dugouts are the result of a quite a few months of league planning, sketching, and talking, so as you may understand producing them again wouldn’t make any sense once the 'party' (read tournament) is over.
Hope you like them.

Please pm me if you're interested, so I can confirm we still have them (and set a pack aside).

Thank you for reading!

Nice to know you've enjoyed them!
Oh, and thank YOU!
:D

On the dice logo question, the "main logo" - which also is our league logo, is the same (the shield with NABBO acronym on top, turnip/BB ball on the bottom over the field/pitch stripes, and the motto around).
Now, since the tournament had a very specific theme, in order to make the dice thematic too, we've added some of those elements to the "main logo" - mean cthulhu face half hidden behind the shield, tentacles grasping at one of the motto turnips and the tournament year (12) over the shield's main turnip/ball.
That 'twisted' version of the league logo also shows in the "Kick-Off Summoning Table" painted in blood (red)...
:)

Just out of curiosity, on the KO'd "cave" of the dugout, there are a few posters of some legendary teams of the NABBO league.
We thought it was a cool homage both to the teams and their coaches (due to 'real life' some of those coaches don't even play any more, but are many times remembered in league games due to the amazing teams they've managed to build and run).
[From left to right: Trash Can Warriors (Skaven), Mandelbrot Marauders (Chaos Pact), Varslona Vicious Vampires (Vampire), McKinley Hat Raibeads (Chaos Dwarf), and Juunikyuu BBC (Dark Elf)].
