Re: Dutch Open 2013 - 2-3 February, AMSTERDAM!
Quick overvieuw:
Last round saw two coaches, Sirsebstar and JaM, who competed for the title.
Sirsebstar won all his four games and JaM had drawn one.
A draw would mean Sirsebstar would lift the trophy and only a win was enough for JaM.
It turned out te be a real nailbiter where JaM took a 1-0 lead at half-time.
He forced Sirsebstar to score in turn 13 giving himself 4 turns to walk in the tournament winner.
Sirsebstar put up a valliant defence though and JaM needed 4+ 3+ dodges to het his ballcarrying hobbo in scoring position. Only a WD could get into blitzing range but when he failed his leap it was over.
JaM is the new Dutch Open Champion and Dutch Champ for 2013!
2nd: Gesmaschine
3rd: Sirsebstar
Last: Erik (new coach, new NAF member)
Most TD: Dave
Most Cas: Drunkendwarf
Comeback: Grotemuis
Drop: Dr_Rudolf_von_Richten
best paint: Steven van der Parre's Orcs

Re: Dutch Open 2013 - 2-3 February, AMSTERDAM!
For myself:
1st game against Jelle, Wood elf
the same lineups (tree, 4 catchers, 2 WD, 4 Lino, 2 RR) and early exits for both my tree and a WD. Still, 2-2 at halftime dispite the blitz he got in a half that saw only 2 Turnovers. 2nd Half was all for me though, everything went right and where Jelle didn't fail anything he just couldn't get my catcher down.
5-2, 1-2 .. a good start
2nd game, Juck101, Wood elf
Different lineup (1 catcher, 2 WD, 8 lino, 3 RR, apo) and it was raining. His elves suffered from the wet ball more than mine and when we calmed down it was 3-0 for me. Second half was more even but Juck couldn't do anything about the final score,
4-1, 1-0 (IIRC) still going good
3rd game, Sirsebstar, Wood elf
Same lineup as Juck and my game didn't start as well as the others had. 2-1 down at halftime, slightly unlucky but what did I know. Second half was disastrous, balls being thrown in straight into his wardancer's hands, double skulls, snake eyes, I've seen them all. I had 6 turns when it was 4-1 but couldn't capitalize on his mistakes or dicefailures .. I scored once but couldn't put another one away in the last turn, obviously failing a simple pickup
2-4, 1-0 (IIRC) ... bummer
4th game, The Sage, Lizardmen
Interesting opponent (and fellow BUBBLE - league coach) who came in with strenght (6 sauri, 5 skinks, 1 krox and 3 RR). I scored quickly despite didging skinks nicking my ball. He took long to score in an even game but I failed to take the lead once again after tripping over the chalkline of death in a OTS - attempt.
Second half began weird. He skulled out, I failed a gfi and it continued in a way similar to yesterdays last game. This time I saved a RR though and used it wisely in turn 16 when equalizing via OTS.
2-2, 1-0 (IIRC) ... happy with this
5th game, JoaNET, Undead.
We played once before and I beat JoaNET there, would do the same this time. His ghouls either couldn't pick up the ball (1-0) or failed a dodge (2-0) or were blitzed down by my tackle WD (3-0). He came back in the 2nd half but couldn't recover.
3-1, 2-1 (lol)
Final place: 6th and most TD (16) .. and an awesome weekend!

Wow, what a blast...
Had a great weekend and a lot of fun (obviously). I went to the tournament with the idea to score some (or a lot) casualties and maybe get my NAF-ranking for Chaos Dwarves a bit higher. I mean, why not...
Turns out I made a LOT of casualties, and somehow CDs grew on me, or something... despite not playing them for a long time.
Still cant believe what happend to me though, quite a happy camper to win a tournament and (even better), the Dutch Open!!
Hope to see all you guys soon, thanks for organizing, and also hope to see even more coaches next year!
Cheers all,
JaM

Re: Dutch Open 2013 - 2-3 February, AMSTERDAM!
Fantastic tournament. Rolled a die for race and it came up high elves. Before my first game I got a lot of comments that they were rubbish in this format. After 4 games I thought I had proven them wrong, winning three and sitting in third place. And then I met a skaven coach who drove home the point: high elves can be extremely helpless. Or maybe it was just because it was my 5th game ever with them. I will definitely give them another go some time.
The venue was great, but the location of the bar was a bit inconvenient. Good to see so many foreign coaches again now the tourney's back in Amsterdam.
Congratulation JaM, that last drive was legendary. Thanks to you and SirSebstar for the great entertainment to everyone that had time to watch. I think some players actually postponed their post-match cigarette for your four drives

Beers dices and good company. My first euro tourni was a great one. Thanks to everyone including the waiter who only gave me a half
Mid table finish for me and all of the games were competitive. Decent effort on the painting but I will go for something more modern next time

I liked your CD's best Juck .. maybe a bit more highlighting and you're there .. the ideas (read: execution and combination of the colours) are ace (I loved your Welfs as well, especially on the ground)

Duth Open back in Amsterdam and it looks like we found a venue where we'll happily return as well, so look forward to the 12th edition being in Amsterdam as well and we'll make an effort to get it fully back to it's former glory!

Had a good time at DO. Tied twice, one winning, then lost from Marco's Skaven and another win. Will attend next year.

Congrads to JaM! Well done mate!
It sounds like it was a great event, so congrads to the organizers as well.
I certainly hope that the DO will return to it's former glory and hopefully I can afford to make it out again sometime in the near future.
Cheers.

The venue looks a little out on the limb, definetely a tram ride from our usual hang out areas (darn the new ticket system!). I know i was only in Amsterdam in december but oh how I miss the place! Put me down for next year.

it's pretty close to Lucy's place (hint hint .. that may well force him into playing)
