PREVIEW - WOOD ELVES
PREVIEW - WOOD ELVES
As in any tournament format, Wood Elves adapt and make for a really strong choice.
11 players + 2 RR's *
Treeman - Leader
Wardancer - Strip Ball
Wardancer - Frenzy & Tackle **
Catcher - Sure Hands
Catcher - Block
Catcher - Guard
Catcher - Sidestep & Sure Feet **
Lineman - Dodge
Lineman - Wrestle
Lineman - Kick
Lineman - Fend
* You can change the second RR for an Apothecary, in this case Leader becomes your golden skill
** Tackle makes a better ballhunter, Sure Feet makes a better OTS Catcher
Golden skill: Strip Ball
Skills I'd hate to lose early in the tournament: Sure Hands, Sidestep, Guard

I'm playing undead, so my flesh golems and wolves will not be on the field. Not sure I have enough zombies though... and the wights I will need as well.Buck's wrote:can someone lend me Necromantics ?
Da Great MC offered me to use his painted undead (mine are not) so maybe you could ask him,....

Having not only survived this 24h madness (and yes, I'm still awake. since about 8 a.m. on the 26th :-p ) but also taken home the prize for most touchdowns scored, I can say this has been a most wonderful and unique Blood Bowl experience!
Thanks again to Da Great MC and the rest of the organization!

Re: 24 HRS MIDWINTER MADNESS – 26/27 JANUARY 2013 (BELGIUM)
Thanks to everyone on a superb tournament. Here's how my Dark Elves went...
Game 1
Gerson - Amazons
6 Guards, 2 wrestlers and 2 dirty players - Gerson was a man with a plan and he proceeded to knock my DEs off. Luckily, he concentrated on fouling and not moving the ball forward, so the half ended 0-0. After a high kick to start the second half, the DEs caged up the field and managed to score in T7 for a close 1-0 win.
Game 2
Philip - CDs
I received this time and moved haphazardly upfield, before caging well upfield from turn 6. Needed a 2+ dodge from a dodge blitzer near a hobgoblin to secure the cage in turn 7 but 1,1 happened and Philip got his Bull back to clobber the ballcarrier and send the ball into the crowd - 0 - 0 at the half! The second half opened with 2 KOs and 3 CAS in the first 2 turns, leaving 6 DEs on. Philip made no mistakes and scored in T8 to ahnd me a 0 - 1 loss.
Game 3
Bart - Woodies
I was pleased to play Bart on his 200th NAF game! His Woodies received first and went for a quick score down the right. This came to grief quite quickly with 2 catchers taken out in quick succession, and the Dark Elf cage moved upfield. Bart's Wardancers wouldn't give up though and stripped the ball out, only to see it taken back for a T8 score. The second half began with Bart getting a Blitz! His Catcher caught the kickoff, only to be CASed immediately, and the DEs caged quickly to score in T5. Bart's Woodies made one more attempt to get downfield but were stopped again, with the Dark Elves coming within a "1" on a catch of scoring 3. I'd been warned that some games would likely have one-sided dice rolls and this really was one of them. Sorry Bart!
Game 4
Simon - Norse
The King of Norse received first, but a double skull on the snow troll put them in a bad position, allowing me to score in turn 4. The Norse equalised before halftime, leaving me the second half to receive and score. All went well until turn 4, when I failed to see Simon's Diving Tackle Lineman, leaving me on the floor, no ball and a Witch about to be surfed. In the end, a mad scramble for the ball ensued, but neither of us could score! 1-1 it remained!
Game 5
Tim - Undead
Spent a lot of time laughing in this one, so don't remember much. It finished 1-1, with a dramatic late chance for us both to clinch it, but in the end another draw was the fairest result.
Game 6
Mats - Slann
Mats played at a frenetic pace, attacking my cage relentlessly in the first half. However, his luck wasworse even than Bart's and the frogs ended the half 1-0 down with 2 catchers out. By turn 4 of the second half, 6 frogs were out and i was able to recover to score again. Finally, a blitz after a Turn 7 score gave me the ball once more, and a thoroughly undeserved third went in to make it 3-0, in a game that was much closer than the score suggested. Sorry Mats.
Game 7
Dries - Undead
My second undead game of the day, and this time against the tournament leader. Dries kicked to me and started his war of attrition, knocking players about whilst I trundled upfield. Managed an 8 turn score, but finished the half with 8 players. The second half started with a blitzer joining them in the CAS box and Dries 8 turned me back. A good game.
Game 8
Jurgen - Woodies
The Leaping Lions were looking very strong at this stage. I kicked to them on their beautiful pitch and was completely outmanoeuvred as Jurgen scored in turn 8. The second half saw me score in turn5 or 6, but this game was a long one and it was called with a couple of turns each left to play. I think this was a lucky escape for me - thewoodies were all over me and if the game had been allowed to kick off once more, I expect I would've been on the losing end. As it was, another 1-1 draw.
Game 9
Quentin - Necromantic
Les Most Wanted kicked off to me and I 8 turned him for 1-0 at the half. The second half was a lot more frenetic, with the ball popped out several times and the advantage swinging from one team to the other. Finally, the blodge ghoul was knocked over and CASed, allowing my Witch to pick up and go in for 2-0. Close!
Game 10
JJ - Humans
By this stage (6.20am) I was having trouble seeing. Still, so was Jean and I stole the ball and went upfield to go 1-0 up at the half. I started to make some mistakes and despite scoring again in T3, Jean made a heroic comeback. It was 2-1 at turn 4 and I couldn't pick the ball up! Jean saw his chance and caged up in my half. However, the cage ground to a halt and the score remained 2-1.
Game 11
Thomas - Dwarf
The last game. I am sure I fell asleep a few time during this game. My vision was all over the place. The first half started with me receiving and failing to make any impression on the Dwarf defence. Thomas calmly waited for me to over-extend myself and make a mistake. When I did, he struck, pinching the ball and bashing my team left and right for a well deserved 1-0 lead. The start of the second half simply needed to Thomas to carry on as before with his strong caging. However, luckily for me, his pick up failed, and my runner snuck in to pick the ball up, then pass to a sideline cage. Scoring in turn 2, I then got my second Blitz! of the tournament, pinning his backfield players and catching the ball. The score happened in turn 4, allowing Thomas 3 turns to equalise. A gutsy pass put the ball in a cage on my endzone, until an incredible blitz by my witch elf resulted in a both down on the dwarf runner. Turn 8 saw Thomas use the last of his rerolls to pick the ball up to secure a draw in a hard-fought match 2-2!
So, 5-5-1 for the tournament to finish 2nd. I had an absolute blast and met some great players - exactly what Blood Bowl is about!
