My list was not intended to be mutually exclusive to others. But as you can see my list does not include proximity for example (I've missed plenty of local-ish tournaments but travel to Germany, Belgium and Hartlepool every year).

I guess we have to accept that what we value in a tournament (good organisation, good night out, good coaches, sociable people, good rules) is not what others value.

Perhaps coaches outside of this fabled "we" feel those tournaments don't have one (or more) of those things listed?

That is implied and fully understood.

However having never been to any northern tournament perhaps you aren't in a position to judge? I've been to most events in the UK - north, south, east and west. So perhaps I am better placed?

I'm not judging, I'm pointing out that what you think is (for example) good rules might not be everyone's. Not every tournament is down on numbers.

I know there are loads of opinions about everything (I am somewhat a master of opinionation) but the truth is, it probably wasn't the best location for a hardcore-rules tournament. Yorkshire is a huge county and I am the only one on the scene that lives here (as far as I'm aware) and with Newc/Manc 50 miles away it probably was doomed from the start.

The fact of the matter is it's over now, so let's all move on.

Bit late to the party, but sorry to hear Ironmanj has been called off.

Couldn't make it for 2013, but enjoyed myself immensely this year and liked the novel rules pack and lottery fun.
