Well that was kinda tongue in cheek, but with a grain of truth. The best way to improve at any game is to keep playing people better than you.
...and how do you recommend I maintain enthusiasm during the many defeats I will suffer?
and also don't think I'd cope terribly well with the atmosphere at your gatherings. (No personal offense, but I'm a pretty vehement non-smoker.)

Excuses, excuses ;) It's actually only Ian and I who smoke, unless you simply can't stand to be in a pub.
Oh that's not so bad. I imagined it to be far worse... I'm probably getting confused by the reports we hear of the Tulip Tourney. Much more significant is the distance I live from London I think! I'll just have to arrange some practice matches against McDeth, if he is willing to waste his time on a loser like me.

Marcos was the ONLY undefeated player at the end
um, nope. he was the only one to win all 6. :D

i know of at least 2 others who were undefeated.

pedro garcia diaz with his undead and myself, gerald kleemair with my trusty chaos dwarves. we both won 4 and tied twice. 8)

Cool weekend indeed.
Won all 3 Sat and got to the dizzy heights of table 2 for a coupla games. :o Felt totally out of place sandwiched between Marcus and Sputnik, esteemed company indeed. Sunday morning however saw me plummeting back down to my usual levels like a stone. Met Jez who couldn't put a foot wrong while I couldn't put a foot right and got smacked 4-0! :D
Then a draw and finshed up with a win to end W4 T1 L1 and a top 25 finish. Gotta be happy with that. :D Match reports will follow at some point.

Nice as always meeting up with what have rapidly become familar faces, and great (as ever) to put more faces to names. Apologies to anyone I didn't get chance to chat to, but TBH I was pretty busy (NAF sign-ups were pretty constant through the weekend, along with 1001 questions) and the whole weekend was a resultant blur(look on it as a lucky escape! ). And apologies in advance for those who's names I will inevitably forget.

Del took some great pics, mainly in Bugman's. I'll get them up later.
And about time somebody gave Norse a namecheck for the bellow that brought a round of spontaneous applause from the entire hall when his fanatic finally achieved something. A definative Blood Bowl memory!

Blood Bowl is great.
You guys rock.

You'll learn at an astonishing rate. Besides which, we have a laugh, it's what the game is about. Yelling, cheering, sledging, cursing bad luck, throwing in random Monty Python and Madden quotes....
I'm probably getting confused by the reports we hear of the Tulip Tourney.

Well that _is_ in Amsterdam ;) We play at a pub (The Edinboro Castle, oddly enough) in Camden

Few players around you'd get better practice against. McDeth is fearsome.

I can hardly let that pass without comment, a compliment like that from one of the most respected players around, makes me feel very humble

Hi to all!!!

First of all: winner name is Marcos Tarrassó Ocaña. He played a human team (luthor, griff, 2 blitzer, thrower, catcher, 5 lineman, 1 RR). And to be honest he is one of the best BB players I know (I only beated him twice and we played maybe more than 100 games). I did choose his team name and players names too (took them from spanish board, timun was one of the blitzers).

Don't have much time to make my report now, but have to say I enjoyed (and suffered) a lot on three matches I played (not in order): against Sputnik, that made me hate luthor... but I'll find a way to beat him (don't forget he is your best chance but also your weakness), grumbledork (played against other Chaos Player later with same team as you and I've beaten him quite easy, you're a great player) and german human player (didn't remember his name nor number but was a great player too).

my results:
4 wins (2 chaos D., 1 dwarf, 1 human) 2 lost (undead, lizards)
I'm really happy with those results, my last match was in table num. 4 but due the result I ended 26; bad luck with dice and pile on saurus that didn't break armours nor did injury... (although this is not an excuse for me, should play better).

Hope those results make GW Spain think about start selling again Blood Bowl in Spain wich is nearly forgoten at GW shops

Lord Of The Rings Winner : Tom Lumley (Last place, Halfling coach, invited to try another game...)
33rd ! is that for real? :o I'm truly surprised if it is.

BTW I won the nice guy award "Most Sporting Coach". I just thought I blow my own 'nice guy' trumpet :)

Thanks to everybody I played for making my tournament a fun one. (results: W: 4-0 vs DE, L: 1-2 vs Undead, L 0-1 vs Dwarf, L 0-1 vs Undead, W 1-0 vs DE, W 1-0 vs Undead).

God, I hate playing against undead - Luthor (sheesh!). Incidently, the game I did win against undead didn't have a luthor in the line-up (the dead guys really are a one trick pony - luthor scored the winner in both games).

Maybe I shouldn't be such a nice guy and foul the bloodsuckers next time

cheers, carl

PS - No disrespect intended to the undead coaches I played against - they were damn good, close games - I enjoyed them all, cheers everybody!

PPS - in case you're interested my lineup: Ripper, Fungus, 2xBlitzer, 2xBOB, 2xGoblin, 3xLine, 1xThrower, 2xRR,5xFF (a fun team to play with - plenty of options)
