5 Throwing accusations of hypocracy about when somebody makes a decision you disagree with which has no effect on you is not helpful

The hypocrisy is where he accuses me of not caring about IP theft when it's a "company I like". It was a negative comment directed at me by an admin and with no evidence to back it up, made in such a way to imply I was somehow trying to "spin" or support this move by Willy... I think I've got a right to respond particularly when the hypocritical SOB actually does it himself.

I completely agree with your other points though, I really wish Willy would drop the head... it's not right and it's not worth it.

The problems as I see it are

1 Carl agreed with GW that no mini's of thrud would ever be produced as a way of keeping the ip on thrud when he parted company wth gw. (as I mis remember the last time we had this).

I'm sure GW wouldn't agree with Willy producing Zug, Griff or Eldril models either, or any of the other Fantasy Football alternative Star player out there.

2 Therefore Heresy are not producing a Thrud (as Carl and heresybloke are tight)

Do you mean BB Thruds? As they do have a fantasy model of him for sale.

3 Therefore there is no "Gap in the market" because legally that market is shut (and bricked up)

Well no, it's very easy to get round the IP rules particularly with such a generic design as Thrud. Looking at Heresy's blatant Doctor Who and Predator rip offs it seems all you need to do is change the name of the model.

4 Therefore "That head" is infringing the IP of Carl in a sector of the market he cannot exploit himself because of 1. As if Thrud could legally be produced then Heresybloke would be doing it.

That's questionable, a helmet with a nose guard and horns may not be protectable since that kind of helmet design existed long before Thrud.

6 In any event its just like the Nazis (after 5 pages of this I felt it was about time for this)

7 Also it is too ugly a figure to see the light of day and should be stopped now (actually it is the second willy figure I hate, don't like the ogres' either, but nobody is a hypocrite if they do.)

For me this is different to GA. That was an accusation of theft outright. This to me is a questionable option on an otherwise ok (If ugly as hell - have I said that?) figure.

I agree it is not the greatest model really. The fantasy football alternative miniature market is pretty small so I'd much rather see original models. Most of the BB models GW sells right now are pretty dated and were not fantastic even in their day so it's kind of sad to see yet another rip off.

More like the Beast of Nurgle and less like Thrud/Thor/He-man please.

Yikes. Can't we all just get along?

I won't get involved in the IP discussion, but for what it's worth, this mini does nothing for me, not just visually, but also because I don't "get" it. Willy makes some very nice stuff, but I'm far far FAR more interested in seeing where the halflings are than an oversized Norse figure.

I'm all for filling market gaps, but my advice to Willy would be that making (admittedly lovey) versions of existing or discontinued stars is kinda defeating the purpose. Please, draw up a list of all the available options in BB and eliminate those that already have nice figures. Do polls if needs be. But there are so many zugs, so many griff, so many orcs, so many norse these days (and plenty of plastics to convert with to boot)... let's give some love to (non soft-core) 'zons, some FF lizards, and some non-comedy 'flings! For every zug mini that's churned out we've missed an opportunity for a roxanna darknail, or a sillibilli or a humerus carpal. If any company wants my money, that's the way to get it, not by making $100-$130 versions of teams I can lovingly kitbash for $50.

Wow Darkson you are such a hypocrite. You accuse me of ignoring IP when it's a company I like (something I'd love to see you show a single shred of evidence to support) and yet here you are, just a few days ago, expressing appreciation for something which is a blatant copy of a GW image.

Where is your righteous indignation when you don't like the company being ripped off? Oh that's right... you're the one to pick and choose when something is "wrong" based on your own personal preferences.

Screw over GW as much as you like, they deserve it for the way they've screwed over fans and other miniature makers over the years (not just of BB, in general).
Screw over a nice guy that helps the BB community? Then screw you!

I like the Rat Ogre, but I can't help thinking, "is that a bird beak", when I look at his head. Other the that it's a very cool mini with a great mean stance!
