Yeah, resonates really well...given that it's in gaelic, it could be about shagging sheep for all I know...pogue mahone too!

Woodelves: Hawkwind or Rotary Connection
Darkelves: Kraftwerk and Bauhaus

Actually back in the old OLBBL days I got tired of seeing every Woodelf coach naming their players from tolkien so I just named all mine after members of Funkadelic. The P Funk Allstars were born.... And they will be attending this years bloodbowl.

i just realized that nothing i listen to on a daily basis has any direct or even easilly-inferred relevance to bloodbowl...

bummer...

them whiney dissonant post-punk acts need to quit bitching about their ex-girlfriends and write songs about sports!

i suppose the get up kids did have a disk titled 'four minute mile', does that count for anything?

I've got the lyrics translated on the album sleeve:
---------
Eighteen teams of horses
on the fields of aird a mhorrain
the young men were ploughing
on the day the Sleat people came

Black was the colour of the blood
that flowed like a flood to the land
the arrow, the long sword
through the generosity of the Udal people

Generation to generation
from one name to another
my time is now
to walk this corner of Uist

The Geneology of Goraidh
The sons of Ruairi
The sons of Ranald
The children of donald
the children of my own family.
------
Sounds better and more aggressive in the gaelic doesn't it?

For anyone interested, the song can be found on the "Searchlight" album.

Anyhoo...
Can I add "You can't stop Rock and roll" by Twisted sister? had it on at work and it got me right in the mood for a game.

Darkelves? Underworld, Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine

BTW: Apoptygma Berzerk: Non Stop Violence. A no-brainer, definitely.

scrolling through my nomad jb, the best i can do is "take the skinheads bowling" by kamper van beethoven....

though the dark elf balladiers could take their pick between "sheena is a puck rocker" (ramones) or "punk rock girl" (dead milkmen)...

Deathwing wrote:Have to agree to disagree on this...everybody I knew who was familiar with the earlier version hated the newer version..it was purely designed to get US airplay...87 was when Coverdale lost an awful lot of his earlier audience, myself included.

It was a live classic..one of those slow ones that the whole crowd used to belt out.I've got a video of Whitesnake headlinding MoR at Donington in '83 which has an AWESOME version of 'Here I Go' on it...and yeah, I was there...
Difference in age then...
I started to listen to rock music in 1987 at the age of 17, so heard the '87 version before I heard the earlier version. This is probably the reason I like both versions and probably the reason I don't like the later version of Fool For Your Loving. I already was familiar with the older version before they re-did it.

I dunno, I reckon My Bloody Valentine is more High Elf. Ride, Curve, Swervedriver.... Bit of a shoegazer race really :)

Could definitely add Front242 to the Dark Elf list. Definitely got the whole rivethead thing going.

i like to think of dark elves as more of a jazz race myself... ebm is way too uncultured for their aesthetic :P

Hmmm...., when listening to Atari Teenage Riot, Chaos Dwarves unavoidably intrude my mind ("Destroy two thousand years of culture")...

i'd avoid bringing hockey into the thread... i mean, you start with hockey, the somehow the topic of canada gets pulled in, then canadien music, and before you know it, you wind up with bryan adams....

and none of us want that, now, do we?

i mean, think of the children... their poor young ears...
