GA agreements?
this may seem dumb but why don't you put the GA standers on a sticky post so newbis can read and understand what it means?

The Gentleman's Agreement (GA) on TBB was started by TBB member Norse.
Its fairly simple.
1) If you wish to participate PM Deathwing to add your TBB login and your Ebay login to the list of TBB members under GA.
2) If you see an auction that a TBB member is high bidder on for Blood Bowl merchandise BEFORE bidding, PM (private mail) him through TBB and let him know how much you are willing to spend on the item.
3) The other TBB member if he was willing to bid more will respond and tell you, if you have the higher bid point, he should step aside and tell you to go ahead.
4) VERY VERY IMPORTANT: If you say you are willing to spend X and then the auction goes for LESS than that amount and you are not the winner this is a serious fault against the GA ideal. Expect a ton of complaints and possible permantent removal from the GA process if this happens.
5) Finally so as not to screw your TBB friends, no GA are permitted on items for sale by a GA member.
That about covers it.

Just a note...the list of ebay usernames is unlocked, so if anybody wants adding just drop a post below the list. That way any moderator can add you to the list, should I be away at a tourney or generally unavailable.
We'll delete the posts requesting addition as and when the names are added. If there's a post requesting addition tacked below, then assume that person is 'on the list' until a mod. gets round to adding that person.
This way, I think all the bases are covered.

Yes what with the down time on TBB sometimes you can't load it so how will you know if someone asked for a GA and hasn't placed a bid. I alaways put in an early bid, people say it will only raise the price, but come on it won't go that cheaply anyway. Putting in an early bid is the best way of showing your interest.

Maybe you're right Grumbledook.
Nevertheless, until now, I always tried to bid in the last few minutes (like any other flower of an undescript sort at ebay
) and have not placed a bid beforehand in order not to reveal my interest and lure the top bidder into a sense of false security.
I realized that this bid tactic occasionally does not work very well while being member of the TBB-GA-Cartel at ebay. Maybe it's time to change bid behaviour then?

That's the whole problem with this whole f...ing GA thing in the 1st place. Everyone knows that sniping at the last second is the only way to get a good price and that doesn't always work. If you put an early, low bid in to get your name on there then get outbid and don't regain th elead again, it appears that was your limit or you lost intrest.
I think it was a good idea at the time but it's just gotten to big and out of hand. Feelings are getting hurt for stupid reasons i.e. Fondu.
I'm about done with the whole mess. You want something, bid what you're willing to spend, Do it early, last second, whatever works for you. That's what auctions are all about. If it's a TBBr just ask them about their purchase. I know I'll buy a whole lot just for one fig. I'd be happy to help another TBBr out by letting him have the rest.

uff..i´m quite happy, i got 4/5 of my bb minis before i know about TBB and this GA thing. Seems to become a mess now.
But still i want to thank those TBB people which accept the my few GAs for my last wanted minis as i become TBB.
As i need just very single or very rare ones now, i try to trade if possible and those very, very rare minis ... well, hm,... thats was and is a kind of " fire free zone" or "snipping zone" anyway.

It seems like a nice idea, but I think it's fatally flawed. Looking through lists on e-bay, then coming back and searching through lists of GA's on here triples the time it takes to find out what's going on. Plus casual e-bay browsers are suddenly 'denied' the right to bid by someone who gets to spend more time on their computer and spots them quicker. I like the idea, but in practical terms it b*llocks. So I apologise to anyone if I bid on something they've GA'd on here, but such is life. From what i see, some of these aren't so much 'gentlemen's agreements' as people saying "it's mine keep your hands off". If someone really wants something I want to bid on then I'm happy to consider e-mails/pms etc. But otherwise it's a free auction and having a half baked attmept at controlling/rigging auctions is largely futile.

You seem to have missed the point. If someone asks for a GA but you really want it and are willing to pay more then them. The idea is you find out who is willig to go highest and then the other people don't push the price up for them. Its not an excuse for a first come first serve like you seem to have the idea it is.

Perhaps I have mis-understood then, but having browsed through some threads to get an idea of what it's all about there have been more than a few which for all intents and purposes read - "Mine, keep your hands off" some of them not that far from that wording either.
I can see why people get a little disgruntled with it.
