Hwy Munkey, I meant "srong but pathetic" as a good thing! I mean to it should be left off!
Milo, yes! I think I could live with this team! Not my ideal but a damn good compromise. I thnk if enough of us rally together we can get this team stamped as an official experiement.
As for more playtesting on the current ogre roster...I hate to say this because in the past I have always said that it's nearly impossible to just look at a team and say it's overpowered but in this case I think I'm wrong. Even if the team was balanced it raises a question of why would anyone run goblins? Besides I think we can all see that it's going to cause major problems in a league setting. I wouldn't want to play against it. If Galak brings it into the MBBL, and by some miracle I don't just quit, I'll forfeit any games I play against it...and I play a broken Chaos Pact team!

Glad you like it, Pariah. I knew I could be good for something. =)Pariah wrote:Milo, yes! I think I could live with this team! Not my ideal but a damn good compromise. I thnk if enough of us rally together we can get this team stamped as an official experiement.
Now this, I have to respectfully disagree with. I'm well aware of the overlap between this team and the goblins, and I'm personally of the opinion that this team IS overpowered -- if not compared to all teams, then at least compared to the way Ogre teams have been represented in the fluff. As for more playtesting on the current ogre roster...I hate to say this because in the past I have always said that it's nearly impossible to just look at a team and say it's overpowered but in this case I think I'm wrong. Still, the more hard testing data I can provide, both of the new team AND the old, the better I can make my case to Jervis and crew. That's a worthwhile reason to test the team if no other.

Yea definately needs more testing, i consider that team broken as is, but i still would not consider a 3 or 4 score game normal for the ogres at least rite off the bat.

Milo's team looks a decent compromise. However, I do feel that the rerolls are too cheap.... what 80k too cheap!
Yup one of the main things that made the old big guy teams difficult was the lack of rerolls. I think that the rerolls should be 100k each. IMO this fits with a stupid team... and come on the Gobbos are going to be trying to get away with murder.......
Aside from that.... it all looks fine to me.

Secondly, Andy H has responded to my email. The main point arising out of his mail is that it is Fanatic's policy to develop rules for minis after the minis have been produced. Personally, I think this is wrong since it makes it much harder to amend the rules for a team once the minis have been produced.... Magic Helmets anyone?

Well, with really stupid (that can't be helped with bonehead players) and no team rerolls (for consistency's sake, they should keep the big guy caracteristic and have no access to rerolls), they won't be doing anything half the time. They'll suck big time even with block and mighty blow.Pariah wrote:I just can't believe I'm hearing that the Ogre Blockers should have gen access and start with mighty blow! Do you guys realize how fast this team will have 7 or 8 players on the pitch with ST 5, Block and Mighty Blow!?!

Re: New Ogre Playtest List
I quite like the list - however I'd give the blockers General skill access. First 2 skills I'd want on these is Block and Pro.Milo wrote:Code: Select all

Is the intention to make them weak, like 'flings and gobbos? Is so don't give them Gen skill access. If you want them to be a normal team then give them General Skill access. My 2p

Re: New Ogre Playtest List
Well ok, the playtesting is still to be done, but i dont think its as easy as that, its the general skill access which IMO makes them overpowered, or secondly without it puts them on a par with gobbos etc, i dont see any middle ground, plus they are not supposed to be as good as normal teams. Zombie - I'm pretty sure that the intention is that all the Ogres will be able to use Team Rerolls. This could be deemed to be an exception to the Big Guy rule - however, since it is an Ogre team I believe that it is OK to allow team rerolls.
That said, that is why the reroll cost must be high - ie 100k.

Milo and Pariah ... okay, I like where this is going ... because trust me, I've already screamed at Chet asking how on earth Andy Hall and Jervis can be allowed to print garbage that they really should know is garbage before it gets anywhere close to the mag regarding the Ogre team.
However, what I REALLY don't like are the Trolls disguised as Ogre Blockers on the team.
Let me propose this as I think it marries in some other aspects that I liked from the TBB team:
I ran the numbers though my BB calculator spreadsheet and the costs came out dead on for each position with these statlines. This team I would love to test in the MBBL if it had blessings attached to it. I think its a good marriage of the TBB team with something that better matches JJ's minis. The Big Guy on the Ogre Blocker makes a whole lot of sense to me when you consider all the fluff that was written about the team. The Blitzers are the "thinkers" that have the potential to be the Morg's ... your base Ogre just isn't going to get enough out of practice to make sure of the team rerolls. Oh and Pariah, I think if you add Big Guy back to the Blocker, the Gen/ST access isn't so bad .... agreed???
And Pariah, I personally don't think the team needs to get a seperate Thrower position. The fact that the Blitzers can use team rerolls and that you can get 4 of them will definitely make the team's ability to TTM powerful without assistance. And I'd definitely buy the Ogre Thrower fig to represent at least one Blitzer on my team, and as can be seen from Andy's roster in the mag ... he obviously feels the same way.
Thoughts ... I think the above is a pretty good marriage of the work TBB did and where Milo is suggesting the team should go to have a chance at officialdom. .....
Also with this team you could keep the rerolls at 70k since they only apply to 8 of the possible players. I also think that keeping General access on the main Ogres is important. Offsetting the General access, by not allowing them reroll access seems a very acceptible trade off to me. Thoughts?
Galak
This team I would not mind testing and I think has a lot more of the flavor that Pariah's original TBB team had and is pretty true to the fluff about the Ogre team.

0-4 Ogre Blitzer 5 5 2 9 Bonehead, Mighty Blow, TSkull, TTM
120k G/S
0-4 Goblin Catcher 6 2 3 7 Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff

70k Rerolls
