An Ode to Devlan Mud - by Spiky
As I was opening my paint pots
I smelled the smell of a week-dead fox
the stink of rancid peanut butter
and the whiff of things much worse to utter.
My head was swimming as I looked around
To see if a dog turd could be found
Or if something small had crawled inside
My water jar and then had died
What’s the source of this nasty smelling brew?
Is it my Beasty Brown or the Asurman Blue?
Then I found the culprit, how could this be true?
A pot of GW Devlan Mud that was nearly brand new
I could not believe it, as my last pot smelled just fine
But this new one reeks like it’s been poured from Satan’s behind
Why does it have to be, that the wash I use the most
Is the one that smells like cabbage puke, or rotten eggs on toast?
Games Workshop, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised
How their prices just go up and up while quality nosedives
Their washes were the only thing I’d regularly buy
So it’s other people’s products I’ll now look to try.
Dear Vallejo, It’s up to you to save me from this mess
I use your other paints and I think that they’re the best
Please make me a wash that does the job just as well
As Devlan Mud, yet doesn’t have that same god-awful smell
Not perfect yet, but I hope you enjoyed it

Which kind? They sell ink washes (#168 and lower) and superwash (#169 and higher). I got one of ink wash, and it reminds me a lot of the old Citadel inks (first generation, maybe second, the shade is different).bound for glory wrote:look at coat'd arms washs. great stuff. i stand by it.
